kittinSol -> Ancient city on the sea floor of the Atlantic. (12/16/2009 1:16:11 PM)

Is it the lost city of Atlantis?!!!

"New, un-filtered images were revealed, today, from the team claiming to have discovered a previously unknown and submerged ancient city on the sea floor, in the Caribbean.  This series of images were released, they say, to focus attention more on the discovered ruins, and less on the anomalous blocks misinterpreted by the satellite imagery."

Herald de Paris

From the original article published December9th:  Researchers have revealed the first images from the Caribbean sea floor of what they believe are the archaeological remains of an ancient civilization.  Guarding the location’s coordinates carefully, the project’s leader, who wishes to remain anonymous at this time, says the city could be thousands of years old; possibly even pre-dating the ancient Egyptian pyramids, at Giza.
The site was found using advanced satellite imagery, and is not in any way associated with the alleged site found by Russian explorers near Cuba in 2001, at a depth of 2300 feet. “To be seen on satellite, our site is much shallower.”  The team is currently seeking funding to mount an expedition to confirm and explore what appears to be a vast underwater city.  “You have to be careful working with satellite images in such a location,” the project’s principle researcher said, “The digital matrix sometimes misinterprets its data, and shows ruins as solid masses.  The thing is, we’ve found structure - what appears to be a tall, narrow pyramid; large platform structures with small buildings on them; we’ve even found standing parallel post and beam construction in the rubble of what appears to be a fallen building.  You can’t have post and beam without human involvement.”

Pretty amazing stuff: makes a change from the healthcare debate and the usual Sarah Palin shennanigans. Enjoy the pictures :-) .

oh coool:) thanks for the link hon:) certainly grabs ones imagination in a nice way:)

These pictures are worthless, you can't see anything. Now if they find some metallic flying ships impervious to rust or a fusion energy generator sending out a homing beacon to their explorers that left the galaxy long ago, then I'll be impressed.

No way. If those are really pictures of a city, where are all the cars?

I've never heard of a city without cars. I call shenanigans.

Thanks for posting this kitten, its way cool!

I'm no expert but I'm guessing that since it was found in the Caribbean

The people who built it were probably related to the Aztecs and the Incas. It'll be interesting to see what is found out about this place in the coming years, won't it. The overriding question to me has to be, how old is this city exactly?

kittinSol -> RE: Ancient city on the sea floor of the Atlantic. (12/16/2009 7:10:49 PM)

I just pray that it's not a hoax or a mistake - I've been waiting for such a discovery all my life :-) .

The satellite images spooked me out - my imagination started running rampant with all the possibilities.

Hopefully, the people who made the discovery will come out soon and we'll know more. Watch this space!

Yeah.  Where are all the SUV's that caused the seas to rise and destroy the civilization???

They're definitely cool looking images but I've got to agree with one of the comments on the site that said it looks like someone photo shopped a computer chip or something with a satellite image of the ocean.

If it is not a fake… I don't think from what I have read that it matches the typical Aztec city layout.

They tended to be orderly with straight lines and plazas near the city centers but haphazard construction on the peripheries.

From the very hazy picture there are very long straight lines of streets or walls. In fact I think I see a few crosses here and there...just kidding kittinSol...lol But this would not be typical of cities of the times of the Aztecs.

In any case if not a fake what a great find...and what it could tell us of the people of that era. Again I am no expert in this area but I have not heard of sunken cities in the ancient civilizations lore of that area but could be wrong. But if I am not… image the time this city would have been built. I could be an unknown civilization with great knowledge for us to learn.

Very cool!

I hope we will hear more soon (and not that it was a hoax).

Some of those images look a bit "funny". They seem to have outlines somewhat like a cartoon. This could be an attempt at clarification, or it could be an artifact of the digitization process.

If this news is not old, I believe they have found similar patterns before. Whether the same or not, nature will very rarely result in a square or rectangular shape. Actually sometimes it does, but these bits are not put together in that way, so even though certain crystals do grow in a cubical shape, when they come together it is more likely to look like a snowflake than an array of city streets.

I would like to see them find that this is for real. Finding out it is fraud or some strange anamoly would be a disappointment. And if real, if they find anything good, like a workable fusion reactor or something like that they will probably never tell us. Thing is, maybe someone will stop to think the same thing could happen to us. that we are all at the mercy of nature. Then perhaps environmental issues might become real, rather than economically driven.

My brother sent me the images and article last week.

They're extremely clear....and the technology "used" to see this has existed for a verrrrrrrrrrrry long time.

I call BS on this whole thing...I bet it's a hoax.

(Would be cool though if it were real).

Your posts are worthless. If you ever come up with something positive to say, then I'll be impressed.

That is very cool kittin, thanks for sharing it with us.

My pleasure, boi, and I hope it isn't a hoax. If it is indeed fake, then I'll still be happy that I was able to imagine something so awesome, even if I was under the influence of a delusion :-) .

asyouwish72 -> RE: Ancient city on the sea floor of the Atlantic. (12/18/2009 12:48:51 PM)

Hate to throw a wet blanket on this, but all of the features in those pictures are perfectly linear- lines and squares. I know they addressed that briefly (and incorrectly) in the article, but the fact is, you're looking at the output of a flawed algorithm for processing raw satellite data into images. That, or an outright (and VERY poorly done) hoax.

The reason the location is secret is because there isn't actually anything there. Sorry.

sophia37 -> RE: Ancient city on the sea floor of the Atlantic. (12/19/2009 1:50:22 PM)

Nope. You guyz have it all wrong. Its a UFO city. Didnt think of that now did you? lol
