I sell integrated media solutions and you would not want any samples of that.

However, I do have another menu available to choose from.....[sm=preen.gif]

This topic has come up before.  i think you'll find no correlation to profession and D/s orientation.

Personally, i am a business owner.  i own multiple companies.  Prior to entrepreneurship, i was a fairly high level corporate executive.  i was an officer of the corporation for a Fortune 25 company.

mc1234 -> RE: How many submissives.....? (12/20/2009 12:23:04 PM)

I also don't believe there is a correlation between orientation and profession.  Everyone answers to someone, unless they own their own business - and then they answer to the economy.

I'm a paralegal.  I answer to the attorney I'm employed by and our clients, of course.  But it takes a lot of leadership and 'take charge' attitude to get the job done.  I have also done/do a lot of volunteering work in which I take the lead position.  And oh, yes, I'm the mother of 3.  So ... not a lot of submitting is done to the world around me.  But within my relationship with E ... his dominance is pure bliss.

AuroraAllie -> RE: How many submissives.....? (12/20/2009 12:49:53 PM)

 My sub is an electrical engineer.

Tantriqu -> RE: How many submissives.....? (12/20/2009 1:41:30 PM)

Let's see . . .

The professions of my subs have been:
PhD in science who went back to become a dentist, Mechanical engineer, PhD in History, MD/PhD, Lawyer in international law, Cop, Detective, Croupier.

So, nope, no domestic engineers in the lot; except for the croupier who was most directly in a service industry, the rest were definitely in dominant professions/leadership roles . . . aaaand THAT's the way, uh-huh, uh-huh, I LIKE them, uh-huh, uh-huh.
Boo ya.

littlewonder -> RE: How many submissives.....? (12/20/2009 2:47:50 PM)

I've done all kinds of jobs over the years. Some where I've been the supervisor. Others have been service oriented, others have been jobs where I was under someone else.

There's been no correlation.

slavekal -> RE: How many submissives.....? (12/20/2009 4:50:18 PM)

I don't think our orientations have much to do with our professions or hobbies.

Aynne88 -> RE: How many submissives.....? (12/20/2009 5:48:53 PM)

Aneirin, great question. I think it's kind of a common conception that many submissive types carry that over onto their chosen professions, but I am very dominant in my professional life. For 20 years, I have been the V.P. of my ex-husband's contracting company, I  am in charge of all client interaction, mainly with the closing of deals and that is quite stressful. I prepare the bids, and I work with all of our subcontractor's trying to negotiate the best price possible to be the chosen builder. I deal daily with architects, engineers, licensed tradesmen, and make certain that standards are followed. I am constantly battling with OSHA, MEMIC, code enforcement officers, etc. I bet AnimusRex could relate to the bullshit in dealing with those types! I also prepare the pricing for the cost of materials to complete the projects and negotiate with the lumberyards as well, and quality control. I can't tell you how hard it was at first to tell these men that delivered materials for a high end residential home that the lumber was sub-par and not accepting it only to have them ask for the "boss." They are better now but at first it was a challenge.  It's obviously a male dominated field and I am over it to be truthful  since my "boss" is my ex-husband, but the work itself is challenging. The economy of the past two years has made it even more so. I am trying to phase out of it now that I also work for my Master, who is actually quite amazingly alright with me working for the ex.

My job for Sir is now handling sales and marketing for his very successful company which is the largest lobster and bait company in the area, we sell and buy lobsters from the fishermen, as well as selling bait. I handle the transactions of selling lobsters to Canadian processors, also setting up what we call buying stations on the local islands so the lobstermen can sell their catch for the day right on the spot and we need to have someone at those stations always to keep the business, in Maine lobstering and bait is a huge business and very competitive, Sometimes just paying them 25 cents more a pound can ensure that an entire island of lobstermen will sell only to you and buy bait only from you and that is crucial. I find that the fisherman have a better respect in dealing with women than the men in the field of building trades, and I am enjoying it more. I have an affinity for sales and hopefully I will continue to land new accounts and make myself even more viable. He initially didn't want me to work at all, so the compromise was that I work for him, and so far it's going well. A lot of negotiatng, and deal making and I love it!

A lot of submissive women ( and men ) are very dominant in the workplace. I am only submissive to Him, and to the people I interact with in business I am pretty certain would be shocked even by that.

Carol is basically sub through and through. Her preferred jobs include the word "assistant" in them. Assistant to the CEO is fine, so long as she's not the CEO.

Does it take to screw in a light bulb?

Two.

One to screw it in.

One to say, "Ow, you're hurting me".

Jeff just a question and I don't mean it in any way other than genuine curiosity. Is the CEO that she can't have after her title because you wish her not to or because she doesn't feel comfortable in that role?  I assume it is her choice due to you stating that she is "sub through and through" but would you mind elaborating? Thanks!

Fever34 -> RE: How many submissives.....? (12/20/2009 8:09:09 PM)

Department head in a very deadline-oriented profession. Lots of responsibility on daily, weekly and monthly projects. I love it.
I have authority issues. I think that's where some of my submissive desires come into play. I know I'm usually the smartest, most experienced voice in a room in my profession. It's a relief to be put into a situation where I follow instead of lead. Where I'm not the authority or the knowledge base and I can be challenged by someone who has the authority to constantly raise the bar.
But that's me. Everyone's different. :)

Recently, Carol was invited to become the president of the local woodworking guild. She came home terrified that she was either going to have to be the president or dissapoint the existing president who was worn out by it. I offered up that she could always volunteer to be his assistant and take the grunt work off his shoulders as well as get the socialization that comes from being in a central role. She LOVED that idea. Well, truth be told, she'd probably prefer to simply be invisible, but I want her to do more socialization here in our new town. And what the master wants.... *chuckles*

It is her "nature" to be the assistant rather than the CEO. It wouldn't matter to me one way or the other if she was a leader outside our marriage so long as it fulfilled her.

Valyraen -> RE: How many submissives.....? (12/20/2009 10:07:38 PM)

Well, I'm not a sub, but here's my $.02. I work as a customer service rep over the phone. Depending on how you care to look at it, the job can be seen as a service role, but I personally find it to be an enormous reinforcement to my self-confidence and assurance, as I'm in a position of knowledge and authority in dealing with customers. Again, depending on how you look at it, the job is either the ultimate in intellectual masochism or the ultimate in intellectual sadism - pity that quality assurance recordings keep me from playing with the heads of the customers that really deserve it [>:]

subtee -> RE: How many submissives.....? (12/21/2009 10:09:00 AM)

Well, right now I'm a domestic for a Domme and her daughters. It sucks. But not as bad as my last gig, which was servicing a certain septet short on stature, among other things. They were a moody bunch. Also slobs.

I'm currently looking for something that will allow a lot more sleep. I feel like I could sleep for a hundred years...
