I hope stock pickers figured it out in advance.

Rising popularity of cereal among those looking for a cheap meal combined with plunging ingredient costs to boost the second-quarter profit of Cheerios maker General Mills Inc. 50 percent.

Prices coming down have certainly been nice.  I'm paying half what I was only a couple years ago for a box of cereal.  A bowl of Wheaties for dinner?  No, but it has been my preferred midnight snack for many years.  I'm told it's one of the healthier aspects of my generally cholesterol heavy diet.

Cereals are extremely cheap to grow, and very suitable to mechanization.  Other crops are more expensive, and in the case of meat and dairy products, have a much larger carbon footprint.

OTOH, the path to diabetes is lined with sweetened grains...

Great thread Fellow.
I am surprised they didn't mention a few of my favorites also:  Peanut butter, and beans and rice.
I think many people are going to be looking for inexpensive and nutritious meals, these days.
Cereal, sure beats going without!
