MasterG2kTR -> Trivia Riddle (12/21/2009 9:13:32 AM)

I have no doubt that there are several people here in the CM community clever enough to figure out the answer to this:

This coming New Year's day is but one of only six days that will occur in the coming decade. What is the significance of the six days?

If no one should get the right answer I will reveal it no later than Jan. 2nd

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Trivia Riddle (12/21/2009 9:41:55 AM)

01/01/10
10/01/10
10/10/10
11/11/11
12/12/12
21/12/12

All use two numbers or less as digits?[8|] I canny think of any more combination but I'm probably wrong.

Let me rephrase that slightly[:D] all use numbers digits from 0-2 only.

21/11/11

second thoughts: oh I don't know[:D]

Close....but not the correct answer

Damnit![:D]

MasterG2kTR -> RE: Trivia Riddle (12/21/2009 3:13:43 PM)

I just noticed an error in my OP (and my math)....there are a total of 18 days fitting the criteria in the coming decade.

Termyn8or -> RE: Trivia Riddle (12/21/2009 3:19:32 PM)

I don't have an answer at this time, but if I am not mistaken the new decade begins in 2011, not 2010. Or are we talking a fiscal decade ? For now I am guessing yes, because "This coming" means in 2010. Therefore the window of time runs from then until 12/31/10 12:59:59+ PM.

VampiresLair -> RE: Trivia Riddle (12/21/2009 3:25:04 PM)

I was going to say binary dates,
01/01/10  01/10/10 01/11/10
10/01/10 10/10/10 10/11/10
11/01/10 11/10/10 11/11/10

01/01/11  01/10/11 01/11/11
10/01/11 10/10/11 10/11/11
11/01/11 11/10/11 11/11/11

MasterG2kTR -> RE: Trivia Riddle (12/21/2009 3:29:05 PM)

Termy,

Yes I know that by all legal definitions the next decade does not start until 1/1/2011, and I realize that most people are unaware of such things (much the same way that the masses celebrated the beginning of the new millennium in 2000 nstead of 2001)....however, in this context I am using a fiscal decade.

MasterG2kTR -> RE: Trivia Riddle (12/21/2009 3:33:56 PM)

DING DING DING!!!!

We have a winner! VampiresLair has given the correct solution while I was responding to Termy.

Yes all 18 days have binary dates when they are expressed as a six digit date. Actually not just in the next decade but for the remainder of the century these are the only such dates yet to occur. There were 9 such days in 2001 (and if you read the previous post of mine) 9 such days in 2000 as well.

LadyEllen -> RE: Trivia Riddle (12/21/2009 4:14:18 PM)

Well FFS! I thought that was what it was but I saw there were way more than six!

Goddamit! I need kudos!

Consolation Kudos to LE (and anyone else that thought binary before I caught my error)
