CountrySong -> Secure Sub Transport (12/24/2009 1:49:37 AM)

Hello,
Does anyone know of a way (or the best way) to transport a sub or slave by plain, train, or bus so that they can not cash the ticket and so that it can be refunded if they chose not to come?
I prefer to visit first but that may change this summer when I get busy.

A locked storage trunk with some air holes drilled in works just fine.... [:)]

Those tend to fail to pass the security inspection [:D] and it still would not solve the problem of being able to offer a sub/slave transport without risking being scammed.

You might be able to use frequent flier miles for a ticket.

Won't help you if the "sub's" goal is to get a free ticket, though. And I'm not sure if airlines will refund the miles if she is a no-show.

Or you could tell her "I'll reimburse you for the ticket when you arrive".

Greetings CountrySong....

Speaking as a professional in the travel industry any ticket can currently only be refunded to the original form of payment. They can no longer be converted to cash if not used unless it was paid for in cash by the person named on the ticket. If it was a cash transaction, most refunds come in the form of a check mailed to the person who bought the ticket. If you want to make sure you get your money back you will have to spend the extra for a refundable ticket. Once again, they can not cash it in for money. What they may be able to do is to change the ticket to go somewhere else. They may have to spend some money to do so but with a fully refundable ticket unless they have to buy up to a higher fare there may not be a difference in price.

In the airline industry it is possible to put notes in a reservation saying to not change it unless a password is given. This is NOT something built into the booking system. It relies on a person reading the reservation and requiring the password to make a change. Not everyone will follow that instruction even if it is very plainly there. That may be possible with trains and busses but I do not know from experience about that.

So...refundability but more expensive or less expensive but the sub/slave owns the ticket for use but not refund. Your choice.

Be well....

Malkinius

Why put out the expense when a simple crate with airholes will do the job just fine [:D]

I agree with what Malkinius said, and in my experience, bus tickets are the least secure. Having been a customer service supervisor for an airline, I can heartily agree that agents rarely take a look at the notes, especially if it is a full fare ticket.

Not sure what your budget runs to, but you might want to just buy a discounted ticket and if the sub fails to take the flight, then the fare is completely lost...and you chalk it up to experience. (Of course, she could pay the fee and difference in fare to change destinations, but if she can't afford the fare anyway, it's unlikely she will do that)

It's been a while, and flight insurance is different and more prevalent now...Malkinius, is there an option in which he could purchase insurance? And would he need to have a good reason why the person couldn't travel, or could it just be as simple as "she didn't want to go, please refund the fare to my credit card"?

Plus, a lot of victims... er subs will use the holes to try and escape, beg for food etc. This can arouse suspicion, even among postal workers.

Eh... my best idea is to wire them half the money for the ticket and give them the other half when they arrive. It's not ideal by any means of course.

Missokyst -> RE: Secure Sub Transport (12/24/2009 8:27:40 AM)

Have you considered not sending a ticket until you are fairly certain they want to meet?

Is this sub from Nigeria?

As Malkinius stated, once you give them the ticket is is theirs to use, as far as airfares are concerned. I am prepared to write the cost off against experience, if the person doesn't show you know what you need to know. Simply booking them the flight shows the trust you need to begin a relationship with someone - as an aside, in 20 or so years of flying subs in from all over, as far away as South Africa, I've never had anybody not turn up. Go by your gut.

i have several nigerian subs on the way, any day now

CountrySong -> RE: Secure Sub Transport (12/24/2009 9:09:00 PM)

Thanks for the tips. I like the idea about the airline refundable fares. I also had a private email about a sub transport provider that was cool.

I'm starting to focus on face to face meetings because online just does not last. Right now I can travel so it would be easy to just say I'll come visit. But once I get the place and dungeon I want to bring them here and there are way too many scammers out there to just buy $800 tickets for them. Usually I'm pretty good a t spotting scammers but I've still been burned a couple of times.

Nope no one from Nigeria (though I do get about an email a day from someone in Africa. LOL) but I am thinking of going to Costa Rica and Panama for fun but that will be a personal visit.

take more time to leanr a person know before you pay soemthing
or let them pay...and give the money back when they arrive

CalifChick -> RE: Secure Sub Transport (12/25/2009 12:33:11 AM)

There is more than one profile on the other side about slave transport operations.  I would think putting "transport" into the "text or city" box should find them.
