Why does sex seem to get better as we grow older? I've pondered this before and here are some of my random thoughts and observations about the subject. Sex gets better as we get older because - 1. We are better at sex and more knowledgable on how to do it 2. We are less afraid about asking for what we want 3. By now we've learned the life lesson - if you don't ask, you'll never get it 4.. We worry less about his ego and go more for the id 5. We are more comfortable in our own skins 6. We are more confident in ourselves 7. For a lot of us, our kids are flying off into the world and we relearn what quality "me-time" is again 8. We are more open to new ideas and are willing to try them 9. We have learned better communication skills 10. We become unashamed of of what turns us on and have learned to go for it 11. We've gotten to know ourselves a lot better and hopefully to like ourselves more 12. We take responsibilty for the care, wants and needs of our bodies Whatever it is or isn't, enjoy it to the max.[:)] Great post. Sincerely, merry

I have to agree with you, sex got better for me after 40...well...after I got rid of the ex, that is. It helped to have an amazing lover right after that, he showed me what I had been missing through all of thoes years of being a "good wife". I recall recently speaking to an ex-lover who was going out with a gal who was in her twenties (he's 40), and he was saying something to me about how I was "hard work" to please, and this gal was so much easier. I asked if she was having orgasms, and he replied that he thought she was, but doggone it, she wanted sex three times a night! That's when I told him that he wasn't giving her an orgasm, and that younger women just put up with it, but older women know what they want, and don't mind saying it and insisiting on it! So a couple of months later, she broke up with him, and one of the things she said was that in all their time together, she had never had an orgasm. He was a bit chagrined, but admitted that HIS orgasm is better if his partner has had one, and he had learned a lesson. I also recall a friend who was very, VERY vanilla...at 39 years old, she had NEVER had a Big O. Never. Not by herself or with her husband. So a couple of the neighborhood ladies and I talked her through it, and she managed to have one. She came into my house, looked at me, and said..."Now I know what all the shoutin' is about! Dayum!" I also taught her how to give a blowjob...her husband was eternally grateful! Another thing about women over 40, many of us have had men who have some erectile difficulties, and we are more patient with our lovers, and we don't ridicule when things don't happen...we just do something else enjoyable! Edited to say that we told her what to expect, we didn't have her try it right there with us!

I have always been... very active and I don't think my desire to be greedy has changed at all. What changes things is when I have someone that doesn't know what the fuck they are doing and I don't want to do it so much because it isn't any fun and someone who does know what they are doing and can be lots of fun! Some things you can teach... some learn... some... well... lost cause. Why spend a year teaching someone to do it right... when I can go out and find one who already knows? I mean... at my age... they ought to friggin know something! If they haven't a clue to start with... no thanks. I am into enhancing things... but not overall teaching of a man who has had a few partners and some long term and they can't even kiss or figure out you need a lil something to get somewhere with it. That spells selfish and lazy lover to me! (To cover my ass here.. I like all sorts of kissing styles... but a man who can't hit even one of them...omg!) What I have learned is to know the lost cause from those who can learn and to stop wasting my time and big O's or the opportunity for one... or many. Sex can get better as time goes on... I firmly believe that, but they have to have something to work with to start with!

It's not just you. My Lady and I both agree that sex is better and more satisfying for both of us. If it gets any better I'm in danger of fainting! We may not have sex quite as often, but when we do, fireworks.

I am going to turn 40 soon so this a fantastic post to read from those in their 40s and 50s. I really appreciated reading what you wrote. I have always loved sex and could never get enough of it. While I have been having orgasms since I was a teen, the older I get the easier and more plentiful and more intense the orgasms have gotten. I have always been willing to try anything and I know that over time I have learned more about how to please and be pleased but my body definitely makes it easy for me too as time has passed. A friend told me that her and her husband both lke to have sex once a week. I said why wouldn't you have sex everyday? And she said how would she find the time?!!! So I would add that for women that are sexually open and adventurous it gets better and better at least so far for me but some women sadly seem to be stuck in a rut without great pleasure.

I hit my peak at 35, right after I was freed. It was horrible. I have never been SO horny. I just THOUGHT ibwas horny in my twenties. Whew! Glad that's over. An unfortunate side affect is, that if I get fucked too hard, I have too many mutiple orgasms(30) and vomit. But, can now have orgasms in my throat. WONDERFUL !!!!!
