Opponents of the proposed health-care "reform" have vowed not to surrender, and are already pressing their battle on three new fronts: political, procedural, and legal. Republicans intend to make their Democratic opponents hear from their constituents. They have also announced their intention to object to the appointment of conferees, which means that nothing will get done for another three weeks at least. And the lawsuits have already begun or are pending on at least three grounds.

Not to derail your thread, but did McCain just openly slam his former running mate?

The Nebraska exemption is not the only one, though it is the most obvious and widely-reported one. In this regard, Senator John McCain (R-AZ), who previously had compared such bargains in the Senate to an open-air bazaar where oriental rugs were offered for sale, said this:

I have never seen anything quite like this. I believe that the 'corn husker kickback' will rank up there with the bridge to nowhere as a tipping point..We have got to stop this way of doing business in Washington....People have lost trust and confidence in the way we do business. And I think this latest thing is going to throw gasoline on the tea party fires.

Yes he did, people now know they don't get along and if it derails, let it derail. McCain not wanting to lose his Senate seat explains his behavior, shift to the right. Myself, I would love to see J.D. Hayworth beat McCain.

Sarah Palin Cancels Vacation Over Blacked Out John McCain

Sarah Palin’s weird attempt to remain incognito on the beaches of Hawaii (and/or the lack of sun hats for sale there) have completely backfired. After blacking out John McCain’s name from a visor she donned for anonymous, vacation beach going this week, which blew up into a national news story thanks to some intrepid TMZ reporting, Palin has announced she is cutting her family holiday short. Southwest: GOP Looking to Recapture House Seats It Lost - Roll Call

McCain’s only significant threat comes from within the ranks of his own party. The self-proclaimed Republican “maverick” has drawn primary opposition from Chris Simcox, a founder of the Minuteman group, which staunchly opposes illegal immigration. And Phoenix-area former Rep. J.D. Hayworth, hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a primary challenge. He is a favorite of social conservatives and anti-immigration groups in the state, constituencies that have never been overly fond of McCain.

Minuteman to challenge McCain

Chris Simcox, a founder of the anti-illegal immigrant Minutemen, announced that he will challenge Sen. John McCain in next year's GOP primary. Simcox will officially kick off his campaign tomorrow in Phoenix.

Go Republicans Go! You can do it!

While neither bill is totally to my liking, the furor that they are causing in the republican camp and the health care insurer's camp shows something is going right.  Most commentators this weekend pointed out that this gives the democrats a foundation upon which to build in the immediate near future; get this passed and then ram the rest through piecemeal as the citizens wake up to what is really at stake.Other commentators opined that if this is a moderate success that the republicans are going to be a minority party for several decades even if they win big in 2010.
