I loved that movie!  Although I do have to say it was rather comical the way people gushed buckets of high-pressure "blood" everywhere whenever someone was cut.

I forgot about this movie...truly bizarre!
Now I can't get that little operatic boy out of my head.

Oh, I like it too.  I just thought it was 'unusual and whacked out.'  To say the least.

Read the book - it's much more amusing.

All Babes Want to Kill Me - it's a comedic Kung Fu movie about a man suffering from  mercritis - a disease that makes him emit an odor causing all beautiful women to want to kill him.  Drop dead funny.   http://www.freewebs.com/mercritisonline

Re: Passion of the Christ - I had absolutely no desire to go and see this gory two-hour snuff film.

Denise,
That would be my 'review'. It you made the exact same film and took out the "religious" aspect it would be condemned as censored. Back in the day some of pseudo "snuff" films circulating in NYC weren't that graphic.

Meanwhile back to the OP...

Most offbeat films:

5. 'Neighbors' (Belushi / Aykroyd prove comic genius and drugs DON'T always combine to make a good funny movie. Animal House proves sometime is does.)

4. 'Night of the Living Dead' (Original) - Black & White 'blood' and cannibalism more effective than seeing red.

3. 'Quest for Fire' - aka "Blondie Meets Neanderthals". No dialog. Came out at the same time as 'Chariots of Fire'; Anybody else walk into the wrong room at the multi-plex?

2. 'Caligula' - A Gore Vidal screenplay, Malcolm McDowell and John Gielgud in staring roles, and a cornucopia of naked Penthouse pets supplied by Bob Guccione, who also gets a Cinematography credit; and have NEVER been able to sit through a complete showing yet.

WINNER: 'Pink Flamingos' -- John Waters and 'Divine' as 'Babs Johnson'. Rednecks and swingers competing to win a 'Filthiest Person Alive' contest. Way ahead of it's time for 1972. Divine at his/her best prior to going 'legit' in the original movie version of 'Hairspray' where he/she co-stared with Sonny Bono.

Listen to the original radio play ... it's even more amusing, still.

The only movie I have walked out on from sheer grossness was Meet the Feebles.

The only movie that ever left me feeling horrible for days after watching it was Bloodsucking Freaks.

dr. strangelove.  peter sellers performances are stellar.  george c. scott, and slim pickens almost steal the spotlight. a TRUE american classic.
