i'm curious about the many concepts of what d/s is

Technically I consider D/s as strictly Domination/submission, with or without bdsm.  When I am in a D/s relationship I like bdsm/kink to be included.  D/s means He has the final word, and that's just the way it is.  If He tells me to do something, I do it, or I'd better have a damned good reason not to......like "Sir, I don't think I'm able to walk to the store, I'm in a cast up to my hip," or something like that.  He enjoys telling me what to do and expects me to follow His orders.  I enjoy being told what to do, and I love following His orders because it makes Him happy.....and therefore it makes me happy too..

thats close to what i think, it's the relationship not what you do

Getting head, calling her dirty names, and slapping her ass around. And she should be a good cook. How's about you?

So simply and frankly stated and it brings back such pleasant memories.  Dammit, it now makes me start to think about actually giving my ex a second chance...

LOL!  It's a little hard for me to "pop by" a house over 500 miles away from me.

This question is WAY too open-ended. I once contemplated that question a few years ago and began writing... and wrote a book, literally. Many concepts have changed, though.

Agreed.  I may or may not chose to follow through and have the dedication to such a project.

One leads, the other follows... period!  Beyond that, it comes down to personal/mutual kinks, likes, dislikes, and degrees of domination and submission.

to my mind d/s can be a nilla affair without kink

and the couple involved may not even realize it

I am sure there are enough people that do what we do and don't call it BDSM.
There are people that have an "older"structure within the family...in which one leads and the rest follows...like in the 50's.
Nothing to do with kink.
We did chose to use the words we use, but we don't really need it. But in a community it is eassier to call most things the same, so discussions go eassier and we know what we talk about.

Simple...

He dominates....

I submit.

I mean honestly...that's all there really is to it.

He leads, I follow.

20 points.

a point i've made many times here to much ridicule and derision, so be careful what you say

dominance and submission do have accepted meanings, they can be looked up in the dictionary and i don't think you'll find any associated kink mentioned and that's the way i use them

this slave's perception of d/s is as follows:

simply, we all start out dominanting our environment---crying for attention, food, diapering...and those around us submit to us and care for our needs.

gradually, as we age, we are taught to dominate our own environment and submit to those in authority over us.

some of us really take to the dominating or to the submitting thing...and transpose the concepts daily into our adult lives by way of associations and relationships with others.  others really don't care too much about it and have no desire for either to be a standard of how they live, how they love or who they fuck.

A dictionary is to explain..not to link. A dictionary can't fulfill the wishes of a small group..which we propably are.
We are still a little underground and weird. Also the words might sound some negative to the bigger audience.

But I know what you mean.

my tendency is to use words in their accepted meanings at first

when i want to express a concept i first look for appropriate existing words, then i'll modify the meaning or create a new word but when i do this i try to make it perfectly clear what i have done

i just have a problem when people can use a word anyway they want to, even in small groups, even within the group the word should have a common meaning

i'm not against adapting words to fit, but lets all use the same word the same

that is hard to stop
every group, stream or whatever uses language as it wants. Gangs, rappers and bdsm...all use or transformed words to their own use. That can be a problem to new commers, but in time they get used to it.

my meaning was individual members of the group using the same word individually

ssc used to have a meaning similar to rak but over time it was sanitized to the changing bdsmers to tone it down and not sound so stark

the origional ssc and the current rak have specific meaning, today ask 5 people what ssc means and you'll get 5 diff answers

then I agree...but you know how we people are.
But we don't disagree that often on the words, just once a day or so..lol
