I'm thinking of buying a Porsche Boxster 3.2L.

It will look nice alongside my Jaguar and cement my reputation in what is a run down area as someone not to mess with since clearly, owning such vehicles I must be either at the top of the drug network or a loan shark or possibly both with some more organised crime involvement on top.

The question is not whether I should or should not acquire such a racing machine but what it will say about me when I do.

Lady E, I didn't vote, my choice would have been "loves badass cars".

Good point Level. Maybe that might just squeeze into the 2nd option, the watching too much Top Gear (huge BBC motoring programme if youre not familiar, believe its on BBC America)?

What I'd really like is a proper 1970s American muscle car - you know, the ones with truck engines that make windows rattle for a two square mile radius when theyre revved? Could get one over here but theyre a lot too wide and a lot too expensive to run!

Do you know, I've never got one? I passed my test in October 1985 and not one speeding ticket since.

Its all about mindset. "they'll never take me alive" is a reasonable summary.

My last speeding ticket was in 1983.  I believe in the invisibility shield.  It keeps the cops from seeing how fast I'm going, but it also plays hell when the other drivers don't notice me.  Oddly, I've never been in an accident.  I would go for the Porsche myself if I could.  I'm a frustrated would-be race car driver.

Well in all seriousness, I dont speed unless its on the motorway with lots of room for idiots and errors.

I shall be off to Germany with my Boxster to give it a real push though. I got the Jaguar to about 115mph before I relented - it was steady as a rock and could have gone much higher, but I was being buzzed by idiots.

In Porsches
