We are a nation of laws. Lots and lots and lots and lots of laws. Chances are somewhere they made a legal difference between killing a dog at night, killing a cat at dawn, smacking a chimpanzee during Halloween, and yodeling at a marmoset during daylight. To you or me when it happens makes no real difference. To 10000000000 lawyers desperate for a paycheck, it does.
