VideoAdminAlpha -> RE: Thoughts on Moderation (1/2/2010 1:43:25 PM)

~Fast Reply-~ I would ask you what drugs you are on, but that might violate TOS, and wouldn't that be something.....me violating it. Let me see if I can accurately address some seriously deranged comments, (that are an attempt to instigate gossip and strife) and some thought out comments. First of all, last I checked there is no competition. There are all kinds of sites that offer DIFFERENT things, and last I checked, it is very possible, (if you have the capacity) to actually be a member of, post on, and contribute to more than one site. Suffice it to say, lots of new members sign up every day. As to paying domi to come back,,,,,well I’m having a hard time through my tears of laughter to see what I’m typing. I don’t get paid, why would he? On a couple of serious notes…it is the holidays and even volunteers take time off. It might be the first time that 11 has ever done it, but it is the holiday season and sometimes real life actually intrudes even here on site. I would not think taking the holidays off or even longer should be an issue. 7 has been a moderator here since March 2005. Go look on the users list. So it goes without saying, it would not make sense when 7 was making posts in 2005. As to the difference on the site, it has always been the position that we would like to censor as little as possible to maximize the users experience on site, but we are not the ultimate governing entity. Social and political climates play a huge part. In actuality, I wrote him to tell him his ban had been lifted, as had everyone else’s that had been banned . There was no special treatment on domi’s part, I just think he was not aware he could come back. As to the rest, it has been our experience, that given the chance, users will tend to police themselves quite a bit. The previous posters were correct; if someone is totally obnoxious, flaming, hateful, or otherwise unacceptable to the masses, the masses tend to react by ignoring/blocking, or responding in such a way that the poster knows what the scoop is, and has the opportunity to make an informed choice as to any subsequent actions they may choose to take. That is in part why users have the opportunity to report photos, profiles, journals, mail and forum posts. We do have a Terms of Service every user agrees to adhere to when signing up. Other than that, we kinda figure you are adults and do not need to be coddled; debate is what good boards are made of; some people just have to be shown(hopefully at some point) what debate is versus personal attacks. Does that clear it up for you? So to those that have made snide remarks betting how long other users will remain here, and/or why other users came back, and to all the other MANY users who do not fit into those two groups……..!!Happy New Year Perverts!!
