VaguelyCurious -> Does nobody else laugh during play? (1/1/2010 4:11:01 PM)

First of all, hello! I've never started a thread before so please be nice... [:)]

Several subs have commented in conversation with me on how unusual it is to find a Domme who laughs during play. The first time it came up I assumed the sub was exaggerating, and brushed the remark off, but it's become a recurring theme in post-play discussions.

Obviously I'm not talking about punishment or anything formal-laughter then would be inappropriate. But I enjoy playing with my subs, and they make me laugh. Does nobody else react like that, or is the view of the subs I've played with a misrepresentation?

I would be very interested to hear any thoughts anyone might have on this question.

Laughing is a major part of my life and in play it will be there as well. I would insist on it! lol I cannot understand life or play without it.

BreathandStone -> RE: Does nobody else laugh during play? (1/1/2010 4:29:34 PM)

I definitely laugh during play.  Life is too short to be serious about everything.

Also, I laugh when I'm happy or delighted, and so the sadist in me tends to chuckle when I hurt people.  I've been told that it softens the scene.

Everyone needs more laughter in their life. For those who "comment" are they saying it is a good thing or a bad thing?

Different people view different things in different ways. Personally, I think far too many people take too many things too seriously. I've laughed during sex, funerals, medical examinations. I didn't want to be disrespectful or inappropriate to anyone, but sometimes things just strike me as funny. Anyone who can't deal with that, can't deal with me.

LadyPact -> RE: Does nobody else laugh during play? (1/1/2010 4:37:29 PM)

It's been known to happen, but it depends on the context.  If I'm being more talkative, it's more likely than not.

Then again, there was that one time the damn flogger came apart and went flying across the room.  Who doesn't laugh at stuff like that?

Playful type scenes, definitely.  Serious impact play, not as much.

A good thing.
I was pretty sure I wasn't alone here, but I just wanted to check...

I like to giggle when humiliating someone. It's far more effective than any string of words could be, and more importantly it's fun and it comes from the heart. Because a lot of 'humiliation play' is downright funny to me.

If this is strange it makes me wonder what the 'proper' response to someone debasing themselves for me would be.

PeonForHer -> RE: Does nobody else laugh during play? (1/1/2010 4:55:53 PM)

I think laughing is acceptable but I feel that one should avoid singing if at all possible.

SweetDommes -> RE: Does nobody else laugh during play? (1/1/2010 5:45:54 PM)

We actually check with anyone that we are talking with to make sure that they won't be offended or insulted if we giggle at them during play time ... I have a feeling that whoever told you that it's rare to find a Domme who laughs during play has been playing with the wrong Dommes LOL

And Peon - now I feel the need to sing the next time we play with our boy, just to see how he feels about it [;)]

Phoenixpower -> RE: Does nobody else laugh during play? (1/1/2010 5:54:49 PM)

When I met my C-Dom last time we had some laughter when we were starting to "get serious" after dinner...as he said something which reminded me to a regular comment on stage from a particular show...so I responded to his comment with the response which would be the normal response to that comment at that show which made both of us laugh...so we kind of made it playful to help me to get me in the right state as it was quite a long time ago that he and I met last time and he is a sadist big time...but once I was where he wanted me to be (first suffering followed by later subspace) I had no chance to communicate anymore therefore I wasn't able to include laughter...[&o]

However, in general he does not mind but I know that my humour is soon wearing thin in these moments, so to speak [8|]

Would it be alright if we just hummed a few bars ...softly between lashes? [:D]

Underumam -> RE: Does nobody else laugh during play? (1/1/2010 6:16:07 PM)

I do a mix between a laugh and a scream when it comes to impact play. I guess crying should come out, but laughter comes instead. I think it's gotten me a few extra smacks because she thought I was messing around with her..*grin*

Hoabart -> RE: Does nobody else laugh during play? (1/1/2010 6:18:58 PM)

I don't require laughter to feel intimate with someone, but it sure helps.  When I make a woman laugh, I feel like a king.  When a woman genuinely laughs with me, she becomes more alive, smarter, hotter, and I feel more connected with her.

I have never experienced laughter during non-vanilla play, but I think it would contrast very nicely with the violence.

I'm sure that's tolerable, Vincent.  However, my comment was, in any case, made more with submissives in mind.  Personally, for instance, I've concluded that it wouldn't be conducive of a sensual experience for either myself or my partner if I were to sing 'Rule Britannia' in my richest baritone while she was rogering me vigorously with a strap-on.

HarleyKitty69 -> RE: Does nobody else laugh during play? (1/1/2010 6:53:07 PM)

That might be so, but does that include singing the blues while getting whipped ??

Some pretty dang funny things have accidentally happened when we were together & we outright totally laughed our asses off before and it was always a good thing.  Wonderful in fact.  [:D]

HarryVanWinkle -> RE: Does nobody else laugh during play? (1/1/2010 6:58:49 PM)

Most of the favorite scenes i remember involved a lot of laughter; both laughter by me (when i wasn't screaming) and by the Dominants, either laughing with me or at me.

Lashra -> RE: Does nobody else laugh during play? (1/1/2010 7:24:52 PM)

Yes I giggle, laugh and whatever else when I am having a good time playing. I giggle when my sub is undergoing CBT and is obviously suffering (enjoying it), his facial expressions are priceless. I laugh when he begs to cum and I say in a stern voice NO! get off me!...I have a blast when I am playing.

earthycouple -> RE: Does nobody else laugh during play? (1/1/2010 7:50:16 PM)

One of the things I share with new subs....

"One day, it's going to happen, I'm going to be in the middle of tying you up, I'm going to step on the rope just as I pull and I'm going to land on my ass.  I promise, it will happen.  Your job?  To make sure I'm ok and once that happens, laugh.  It WILL be funny and it's ok to laugh."

Of course there are times when an encounter is serious and stoic, but please...if we can't laugh when people are all naked, exposed, bound, a bit frightened (at least they often are in my case...big bad dominant meanie that I am), then when can we laugh?  Really?

Laugh, have fun, relax, and don't take yourself too seriously, really.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Does nobody else laugh during play? (1/1/2010 7:59:18 PM)

I laugh a lot when I play. It is called PLAY, after all!
