The commonwealth is second only to Ohio with nearly 52,000 Amish residents. Many of those in the Amish man’s Valley community participate in optional insurance coverage through their church — not from private or public firms, as would be required by the legislation. The Senate bill would phase in an eventual $750 fine in 2016 for those who have not purchased qualifying health care coverage, unless they could not find a plan that would cost less than 8 percent of their income. The House bill would require a fine equal to 2.5 percent of a person’s income if he does not carry insurance. Those who cannot find a plan that costs less than 12 percent of their income would be exempt. For the Amish, however, there appears to be a loophole through which they can escape the possible mandate. “There is a religious exemption in the bill,” said Roseanne Placey, spokeswoman with the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance, “which would apply to them, since they believe the religious duty of communities is to provide for one another when they are sick/snip

Exempt ? I need no exemption from that which is not law. The Constitution, being the base of government and therefore the law limits their ability to dictate what I do.

I have no visible means of suppot for the last five years, and very little tracable income for the decade before that. They see me every day, doing whatever I want. I have no contracts with any government agency whatsoever. So the only person who could tell them how much I make to determine if I am exempt would be me. What I will tell them is nothing. Game, set, match. Game over.

So the Amish get off for religious reasons ? What about my religious reasons ? I believe that fully ½ of the doctors out there are assholes, pill pushers and scam artists. I believe to find on who knows what the fuck he is doing is going to require me to open my wallet and pay for at least the first consultation. I choose, nobody else. I will choose just like it is usually my problem to find a good pizza place in a strange city. Not that anyplace is much stranger than Cleveland, I mean strange to me.

So the Amish get let off of this new tax because they say that God alone will decide if they live or die ? I can accept that. But the beliefs I hold are much more firmly planted in reality. Hospitals kill more people every year than Viet Nam did. Fukum.

I live and die with my decision. Come and look at my sick and diseased body, but know I am getting better. Soon it will be time to start working out again and eventually I will be kicking ass again, IN MY FIFTIES. They can go fuck themselves.

You are reading the words of a motherfucker who WALKED into a hospital after being shot in the face, and still has the bullet in the neck. I guess my skull was just too thick. Xrays can prove this any day of the week. And, maybe on record somewhere is the fact that I got up and walked in there, and declared that I did not want any painkillers or sedatives. Try that with a new hole in your head.

I am not fucking around here, I want my cataract fixed, but I will never ever be under their "care" in any shape or form that really matters. My own care is quite superior thank you.

this isn't just exemption for religious reasons. This would be more a case of, the law as it stands overlooks a valid option to fill the same requirements, and the law needs to be rectified to correct that.

There are simular options for others, btw. an exMaster works for a hospital that ensures all its employess via a conglamorate of Catholic health orginazations. If all his health needs are covered, why should that not count as insurance under this bill?

I know the Amish do not participate in social security. Why not "exempt" them from mandated health care as well.

Maybe its time to start shaving differently, LOL.
