Considering the various labels used on people, I am wondering what is the predominant philosophy on collarme.

What do you label yourself as?

I have allowed for multiple selections simply because one label usually doesnt cover a person.

UniqueRaven -> RE: Just Curious (1/4/2010 12:39:34 AM)

Libertarian.  You forgot it.  [;)]

julie

edited to add:  i could check "liberal", "conservative", and "nationalist", but i still don't think it would be right.  [;)]

EbonyWood -> RE: Just Curious (1/4/2010 12:49:40 AM)

Strange, you've asked for people's philosophies, and then given a list of (mostly) political leanings (with 'religious' kind of tacked on). And by no means a complete list.

I think this is 2 different 'categories' that may not necessarily correlate.

jlf1961 -> RE: Just Curious (1/4/2010 12:55:07 AM)

Fixed

UniqueRaven -> RE: Just Curious (1/4/2010 1:01:57 AM)

Looks better.  Thanks!

Edited to add:  EbonyWood is right, these aren't "philosophies" - even though i understand your intent.  "Political Viewpoints" is a much better descriptor.

Yes, it's late, my apologies for not commenting on this sooner........[:)]

I label myself wishing-political-stuff-stayed-in-the-political-forum-so-those-of-us-who-want-to-avoid-politics-won't-stumble-upon-it-accidentally.

Actually, politics has a philosophical standing.

I put it into polls and other stupidity because it is a poll

CalifChick -> RE: Just Curious (1/4/2010 1:24:19 AM)

All of the political stuff used to be in Off Topic, then it started overrunning this forum as well.  Thankfully it got its own home.  Perhaps a more revealing title would be helpful.

I would add my 2 cents worth ... it seems you left off "Free Thinker" ...

This is a gripe I have: why have poll functions in each section, but they aren't allowed to be used anywhere except here?

Anyway.

Mostly libertarian; adults should be allowed to do what they want, in general, but I have some views that are seen as conservative, as well. Religious, although I'm struggling with that.

SweetDommes -> RE: Just Curious (1/4/2010 3:37:56 AM)

None of the political parties match up with all of my views (or even most of them) so I abstain from labling myself as belonging to any of them.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Just Curious (1/4/2010 3:58:51 AM)

I think I am a moderate liberal but that is the hacking lungs talking.

Mom is threatening to take me to the doctor for a shot and some antibiotics.  I just need a bottle of rum and a spitton.

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: Just Curious (1/4/2010 6:52:38 AM)

As I consider myself liberal on some issues & conservative on others, I chose both moderate liberal & moderate conservative.  I am religious, but no one organized religion fits me.  I suppose you could call me wishy-washy, but there wasn't a choice for that.  And it would be completely wrong anyway.  I just don't fit into a box.  I have strong morals & ethics & feelings about what's right & what is wrong.  But I will defend to the death your right to disagree about such things.  Does that answer the question?

pahunkboy -> RE: Just Curious (1/4/2010 6:54:09 AM)

call me anything but late to dinner.

cjan -> RE: Just Curious (1/4/2010 8:54:15 AM)

You also left out Socialist, Social Democrat and bomb throwing anarchist. I fit somewhere in there.

Level, say it ain't so, please. Religious ?! You need more strange pussy, amijo.

Btw, Level , just a factoid for ya which I know you love; did you know that, for decades, Florida has produced more beeves n horses than Texas ? Talk about all hat n no cattle...

Level -> RE: Just Curious (1/4/2010 4:58:49 PM)

Hey CJ: yep, been a Christian since the get-go, but that doesn't hinder any extracuricular activities.

As for the factoid: I don't doubt it, all we've led the nation in producing the last few years are cocksuckers like Rick Perry and Tom Delay [>:]

DesFIP -> RE: Just Curious (1/4/2010 5:31:39 PM)

I shamefacedly must confess that these days I am a democrat. But I was born a liberal. Literally. My grandfather was very close friends with the man who ran NY's Liberal party for years. When I got old enough to vote, my mother took me down to register and told them I was another card carrying Liberal. These days, NY's Liberal party is moribund so now I am forced to be a democrat.

Unfortunately I may have to disinherit the teen, in order to not conform with the rest of us, he's becoming a republican. Maybe I can just beat some sense into him.

Level -> RE: Just Curious (1/4/2010 5:42:41 PM)

Celeste, he may be a another Alex P. Keaton [:D]

We've always been registered Dems; dad was a life-long union man, etc, etc. I've voted for them, but for Republicans, Libertarians, Greens, and Kinky Freidman, too.

CarrieO -> RE: Just Curious (1/4/2010 5:48:02 PM)

In a case like this I like to quote Søren Kierkegaard... "Once you label me you negate me"

I have a hard enough time using the label "switch" since I don't feel it covers my kink tastes completely.  My philosophical and political beliefs are equally broad and sweeping.

Sorry, probably not the answer you were looking for but there you have it.
