Brain, those people are Assholes!
On the other hand I really don't care what happens in "Uganda."
How much money are (they) trying to get out of us?

They're not. The Missionaries took a lot of money out of Uganda when they went back home, though. Presumably you're cool with that?

Moon, sorry but I just don't care one way or the other. I'm American not Ugandan.
And I don't have a "fixation" with foreign aid I just don't want my govt. involved in it for numerous reasons "corruption" being one of the major reasons.
We have people living under bridges in this country and returning Veterans can't get the help they need and our congress in this years budget voted for $45 Billion in "foreign aid" and that's up from $36 Billion last year! There's something *very wrong* with that picture!
If individuals want to give of their own funds fine, that's the way it should be done but when the lobbyists in D.C. are making billions from this you know there's a lot of corruption going on!

No argument with any of that, but your government must be getting something out of it, or they wouldn't be doing it. I take it they're still threatening to cut off funding to countries that refuse to do as they're told?
My own feeling tends to be that if America does feel it can dictate other countries foreign policies, then it had better be offering them something in return, so I can't really share your indignation about the set up. Sorry.

Moon, that's the problem, "our govt" doesn't listen to The People anymore!
I don't want to have dealings with most countries in the world. I don't want to "dictate" anything to them. Most people in the U.S. would like to mind our own business and live peaceably! But, our govt tells us, "we have *interests* in other countries."
I have no interest in any country but my own.
I get the same sentiment from people who live in England. They also think that their govt no longer listens to it's people.
The way you phrase it it sounds more like Bribe money. I don't want my country bribing other countries either!

years ago- I thought 3rd world debt should not be forgivin when gay rights were put to death.

However- now I see the world is money changers over the people. Best to just not borrow in the first place.   Yet when you keep the money changers out- you then become an axis of evil.  IE  Iran, N Korea, Iraq.

The scary part is anytime there is a huge money squeeze - gays and others are in peril.  So the very silver stackers if they had enough power would kill me.   the reply to that power- you know - he who has the gold makes the rules- so- as a silver stacker I hope to not be a target when things get badder.
