EbonyWood -> RE: Heat released by the industrial revolution directly causes global warming. (1/6/2010 4:59:25 PM)

Most here seem to be confusing local weather with global effects.

Right now Australia for example is going through record heat waves and drought.

So what you'll say, I dont live there and it's cold here so nope, global warming isn't happening.

Cumulative and collective effects are the measuring stick.

EW, you saying the planet does not have a fever, like how Al Gore describes it?

PS Australia has areas of extreme flooding too.

I have heard that. I have also heard people claim that this proves the GW people are telling the truth. So if the record highs in Australia prove the GW theory, then what do the record lows in other parts of the world prove?

I've always heard that summer melt off in the polar regions proves global warming.

Kinda like summer glacial retreat.

If all the planets in our solar system are warming "at the same rate" as scientists said about two years ago that can only be caused by one thing, the sun!
You bring that up to the "warmers" and they don't want to talk about it. They'd rather talk about more obscure things and simply ignore it.
There's no Tax Money to be made in "increased solar activity" is there?
*Nothing* that "man" can do can even register against what the sun can do.

MstrDouglas -> RE: Heat released by the industrial revolution directly causes global warming. (1/7/2010 8:14:56 AM)

I have a few question about this whole GW thing.  What ever happened to the accepted scientific fact that was taught when I was in school?  That being that the earth was not stable in its rotation and that it had a wobble to it and it varried the angle of inclination to the sun.
Also why is it that so many people will blindly jump on the GW theory when onlya minimum number of planetologist/scientists have come out to endorse it, and there are over 4,000 that have signed on as it being a natural cyclic event, ( we go back to the tilt and wobble question).
Since the GW faction and Mr. Gore wish to blame the C02 build up, why dont we hear anything more about how many acres of rain forest are lost to mans destruction and burning of trees every year, or has that stopped and nobody noticed?

Just some questions I have that keep me from blindly jumping on the Gore/GW bandwagon.  Especially since we are having such a cold winter in the US and Europe.  Lets see the first year since they started running the high speed trains under the channel that the record setting cold and the temp difference between the tunnel and the outside air is effecting service.
Food for thought, if people can really look at this subject objectively, which I doubt.

that is about as un-------I don't know, somethingable a conclusion that has ever been made by a catholic bishop in the dark ages.

Simple physics. Turn the burner on top of your stove on full blast, doesnt matter what kind of stove it is. Stand by your mailbox, put your hand out towards the burner? You feeling it? Return inside your place, and stick your hand directly on the burner. Any difference? Simple physics at work here my friend. I do not have information regarding what possible material or immaterial matter would causing ponderable objects at different distances from a known heat source to heat at the same rate, other than friction from orbiting thru space and gravity and/or friction from expansion due to a big bang, and am not going to state that there are no other causes, nor am I going to state that there are not.......but......DUDE.

Regardless of opinions on whatever this is about, I am not taking sides, and not espousing any further viewpoint than this: I am simply throwing in a frame of reference.

Get your bearings. Look around you at the real world.

Ron, here's some simple physics for ya, lay out in the sun for an hour in July and get a tan, do it for three hours and get burned, all from 93 million miles away.
And, we have some Catholic preists that are actually signing onto the "warmer's" agenda. Has anyone told them that the "Dark Ages" are over?
And why are they doing this? They see ***$*** in it! U.S. Taxpayer Dollars! When they start saying,....."poor people in third world countries" it's not about "global warming" anymore, is it? (Obama slipped the other day when he used the term "crushing poverty" in regards to Yemen!)
We should be calling the "warmers" "wormers", they're trying to worm their way into our wallets! They want *MONEY* and lots of it!
All you had to do was to look at the cast of characters at Copenhagen, it reminded me of that Bogart movie, "round up the usual suspects!"
It looked like a Welfare Office on the first of the month. "Got any "spare" change?"
Robert Mugabe, now there's a "great scientific mind" for ya! He's not satisfied with "half a trillion" he wants the whole trillion.
And of course the "U.N." thinks we should "assist" third world countries in Africa with "global warming" for whatever reason.
Yahoo News runs a couple of stories a year about African "Kings" getting their "checks" from the U.S. and flying up to London in private jets to go shopping for luxury goods that are shipped back in dozens of cargo containers on ships to the tune of tens of millions of dollars every year!
What do they think is going to happen to all that money?
My lawyer in N.H. told me once, "whenever someone says it's not about the money,.....it's about the money!"

Ron, what if there was no chance of these people and groups getting any U.S. Taxpayer Dollars?
Do you think they'd still be doing it? This cult would have imploded long ago.
"When they say it's not about the money,.....it's about the money!"

mnottertail -> RE: Heat released by the industrial revolution directly causes global warming. (1/7/2010 9:05:47 AM)

everything and anything that occurs has to do with money. why is one good and one bad?

Recently right?

Ron, any argument you can come up with that disagrees with "global warming" or are they calling it "climate change" this month, will be rejected by the faithfull!
"Tree ring studies," the Vostok ice core studies and a thousand more, all rejected! That's not "science!"
That's what cults do! There's not a dime's worth of differance between the "warmers" or is it the "climaters" and those scientologists!
You're a bright guy, go into one of their sites and try to argue against them, *anything* you say will be shotdown or rejected.
Look at the terms they have for anyone who disagrees with them, "denier, non-believer!"
When people start acting like that it's a form of mental illness.

Popeye, I heard someone complain that "deniers" semantically put is in league with Holocaust Deniers. A damning label doncha think?

Vincent, that just shows you how sick and corrupt they are.
Cults attract sick, lonely people.
Remember Tom Cruise a few years ago?

So you believe that the 90 percent of climate scientists whose work shows GCC is real and in at least some way man made are just lemmings following some mythical pied piper ?

that's why science has peer review and repeatable observations and experiments. So that science isn't doesn't turn into a popularity contest but does it's best to stay rational.

There are some other posts on this thread that defy the imagination or are just jokes. Some of you folks have caused your 8th grade science teacher to roll over i n their grave.... assuming you had science or an eighth grade.

Vincent, at least you do understand the process although I fear your desires for how things should be sometimes overpowers your observation of what is.
