Eek. I am looking into having mine removed but the price tag for that service set me back a bit - about $2500 for mine (it's pretty small). Do you think the burn from removal will leave a scar? Jeez, why can't they just tattoo over it with "flesh color?" [8D]
One of the reasons it's important to find a good tech is to prevent scarring. So far, no scarring on me, even though i do have some areas of lost pigment, which supposedly can be fixed once all the treatments are completed.
The person i go to is an RN, and she also volunteers to remove gang tattoos at the prison in San Antonio. It is strictly a voluntary program if the prisoners choose to have their tattoos removed while incarcerated. Issue is, prisoners typically don't come back after one or two treatments - they just give up. So now the "system" has directed her that she just crank up the intensity of the laser as far as it goes, which causes much deeper burning. Removes the tattoo - and also leaves a very deep scar. But the guys still come for it, i guess in some cases better a scar than a gang sign.
i do have tips for healing if anyone out there is considering laser tattoo removal.
