Brain -> The 15 Most Hated Companies In America (1/6/2010 1:18:53 PM)

You might want to know about these companies before you do business with them, like buy their products, or invest money, or get hired. Nice to see Wal-Mart and Microsoft changed enough so they're not on the list anymore. I think if you take a good guess you can imagine who is number one.

The 15 Most Hated Companies In America

It is worth noting that two companies that might have been on a list of this kind five years ago, Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) are not. Each company has, as far as the public, customers, and employees are concerned, improved its business practices, at least to the extent to which it affects the way that the companies are viewed based on the 24/7 Wall St criteria.

Abercrombie & Fitch will never get any business from me, and nor would I provide services to them on account of this BS.

Before you start a boycott against these companies, you might want to be sure that your retirement plan isn't invested in them. As far as working for them goes, I'm sure that anyone looking to be hired could care less if they are on some stupid list. Lets see. Should I remain unemployed, or work for CITI ?

"Green" politically motivated investment may be honorable but in the general atmosphere of greed it is a loosing position. Who wants to take it? As the products, I do not care of the label at all; value, quality, usefulness and beauty is all that matters.

EbonyWood -> RE: The 15 Most Hated Companies In America (1/6/2010 3:18:27 PM)

This seems overly slanted towards financial/share performance.

I think if you polled people based solely on the question of hate, Halliburton et al would be up there, but are noticeably absent.

You appear to be saying that you would have taken a job in a German extermination camp durring WWII if you were unemployed.
Thankfully not every one has the same moral compas as you.

I think we're getting there thom. Remember just how certain people got into power in that arena. We are headed there.

That was way over the top - even for you!

Get a grip man.

Bank stocks, CITI included, are all up today. I guess that investors don't care about some stupid list either.

Louve00 -> RE: The 15 Most Hated Companies In America (1/7/2010 1:31:44 PM)

Hmmm.  I've been thinking of switching from Brighthouse to Dish.  I wonder why thats a hated company.  Anyone know?

*NM.  I agree with EbonyWood.

housesub4you -> RE: The 15 Most Hated Companies In America (1/7/2010 2:24:42 PM)

I do not think she will win, they have been sued before and have won, there image crap is part of there branding or something.  I think in Chicago they got sued for the same thing and won

LadyEllen -> RE: The 15 Most Hated Companies In America (1/7/2010 2:29:25 PM)

Dish used to have horrible customer service, and billing departments, getting replacement equipment meant paying a fee, and it was almost impossible to cancel their service without paying a hefty penalty, even after the 2 year agreement was up.

All that changed about 4 years ago, when Direct TV became real competition. We've had Dish going on 6 years now, without any of the aforementioned  problems, in fact Dish  replaced our DVR & a remote, the dog literally ate at no charge to us[8D].

DomImus -> RE: The 15 Most Hated Companies In America (1/7/2010 4:22:30 PM)

I don't give a shit if Gibson is on their list forever. It'll be a cold day in Hell before I give up my Les Paul. Glad to see Smith & Wesson not on the list. They make people happy.

The only people that Smth & Wesson make happy are the BATF to whom they gave the names and addresses of everyone who ever bought a Smith & Wesson. I love the ones I have but I will never buy another one.

Are any of these companies running exterminations camps? As a Jewish woman and an unemployed one, I have to say that there is a huge difference between willing to work at a company with some questionable practicies and working at a company that is trying to wipe out an entire race of people.

Thanks, subrob!!!  Brighthouse (cable) isn't all that bad, just so expensive.  These days the pennies count [;)]

Thanks again!!
