Evanesce -> Ugh! (3/21/2006 8:13:51 PM)

Am I the only one who thinks some of the recent forum changes have made posting more complicated than it needs to be?  Used to be, I could just highlight what I wanted to quote, and hit "reply" and it would automatically insert the quote into my new post.  Now, in order to quote what I want to quote, I have to practically jump through hoops.

BitaTruble -> RE: Ugh! (3/21/2006 8:45:08 PM)

I'm glad you brought this up. I thought it was just me.

I don't even know how to jump through the hoops, and I'm way to lazy to learn.

What are you talking about? Look to the right hand side. After Reply comes Quote. Just hit that button from now on. If you only want to quote one sentence or a section, just delete the parts you don't want. Is that so difficult?

Not difficult, just not as convenient.

Then you get quotes within quotes. The main problem for me, is when there's an especially long and thoughtful post and you just want to respond to a single sentence within it.. you basically have to read it again to find the sentence location then cut out everything above and below it. I'd rather spend my time reading new posts, then have to read each post to which I'd like to make a response, twice. The other option, of course, is just quote the whole thing, which is something I thought the Mods frowned on.. but, perhaps with the new system, I was mistaken on that.

What they are using is what those of us who visit and have groups in MSN are used to using.. My one bitch is that the additional smileys dont get posted when you click on them as they used to.. The Mods need to take a look at this..

Level -> RE: Ugh! (3/22/2006 2:06:50 AM)

I've been doing quoting the "hard way" since I got here lol, so it doesn't bug me. But IB is right, the additional smileys don't seem to be working..............let's see........nope.

Is anyone having problems with "preview"?  It no longer works for me.  When I click it, all I get is a blank screen.

champagnewishes -> RE: Ugh! (3/22/2006 4:18:36 AM)

I still find myself highlighting and hitting reply...having frequent blonde moments i guess.  What is the "new message" button that is to the far right of reply and quote suppose to do?  Does nothing on my end.

And since i'm here, i'll go ahead and ask...what is the "Ticket List" for that has always been there on the top right of the page where the links are for Forum, Login, My Profile etc?

When i only want a section quoted i highlight it, copy it, hit reply, then the quote icon, then paste it between the quote codes. Sounds complicated but only takes a second.

The mods have nothing to do with the software/features.  Please contact support to report features that aren't working.

Denise,
The "complaining" ones "sleep with the fishes" or have been "assimilated". (Just kidding Mods!)

I "complained". I've decided at my age I don't want to learn any new, "improved" and "easier" way. Experience indicates that only the "new" part is really true. But I now copy, paste and while the pasted part is high-lighted hit the quote button. I think that's exactly what proud sub is doing. Fang's method didn't allow for multiple quoting references and it took longer when you only were responding to one sentence or section. That's important - how else can you make an irrelevant point if you don't take one sentence out of context?

Now I've got a second complaint. Within the post you can't cut/paste with your mouse. That makes it hard to edit. Another enhancement and improvement that takes away an old, often used tool? Is Bill Gates a Mod?
OUCH!
Hey Mods - I said just kidding! Did you have to send such a strong shock to my mouse! I won't 'complain' again!

Same here...I assumed it was a temporary glitch and would sort itself out.

No, it's not difficult, but it quotes the entire post, and I don't always want to quote an entire post - especially if that post is several paragraphs in length and contains other quotes.  The new changes just aren't as convenient as what I'm used to in every other forum in which I post.

I guess I'm spoiled, but I like being able to highlight, hit reply, and have my quoted stuff just pop into my reply.  It's what I've been used to doing since 1997, and I'm too darned old to be learning new tricks.

YES!  I am ashamed for being so lazy, but it is true.  I don't like the loss of the auto quote feature.  Waaaahhh waaahhh.

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: Ugh! (3/22/2006 8:51:42 PM)

I always did it the hard way, so it's no big change for me.  I'm a glutton for punishment.  [;)]
