Brain -> Lieberman's Approval Ratings Tank In Connecticut (1/8/2010 11:40:37 AM)

I don't think people can do enough to hurt this guy to satisfy me. Not when people are sick and suffering and dying because of this weasel. Like I said before if it wasn't for those pictures of Ned Lamont with Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson Lamont would have beat Lieberman. Even more Republicans dislike him than like him. I think when it comes to politics Joe Lieberman will be done like dinner soon.

Lieberman's Approval Ratings Tank In Connecticut

More than 80 percent (81 percent) of Democrats now say they disapprove of the job Lieberman is doing with only 14 percent approving. Among Republicans, 48 percent disapprove of the senator with just 39 approving. And among independents, 61 percent disapprove of Lieberman's antics with just 32 percent approving.
"It all adds up to a 25% approval rating with 67% of his constituents giving him bad marks," the study concludes. "Barack Obama's approval rating with Connecticut Republicans is higher than Lieberman's with the state's Democrats."

That's nothing short of fucking fantastic. Does anyone know whether Vermont has a clause in their state constitution stipulating a trigger point where if a senator falls below a certain approval rating, he's stuffed into a gunny sack with a bobcat and tossed off a bridge?

Shame on you Panda. Advocating pollution of the environment. Politicianing the environment?

Ok, where's my cut, I invented a phrase.

Well, my thinking is, it would be good for global warming because it would eliminate a major source of methane emissions.

Musicmystery -> RE: Lieberman's Approval Ratings Tank In Connecticut (1/9/2010 12:26:14 AM)

CT, you mean, not VT.

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: Lieberman's Approval Ratings Tank In Connecticut (1/9/2010 12:32:04 AM)

Christ, you're right. I did say Vermont, didn't I? What the heck was I thinking....

tazzygirl -> RE: Lieberman's Approval Ratings Tank In Connecticut (1/9/2010 12:34:16 AM)

maybe the better question might be... with what were you thinking...

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: Lieberman's Approval Ratings Tank In Connecticut (1/9/2010 12:36:06 AM)

Well, wherever he lives, they should be able to scare up at least one bobcat and one gunnysack. I'll kick in 5 bucks, if it would help get the ball rolling.

Moonhead -> RE: Lieberman's Approval Ratings Tank In Connecticut (1/9/2010 5:22:19 AM)

If they can't find a bobcat, maybe a rottweiler would do? I'm sure they have a few dog pounds.

In the history of the Gallup Poll, which began in 1938, Obama's approval rating is the lowest approval rating for any president after only 1 year in office.

Now, before anyone slashes my tires for going off topic the reason I posted this is to make a point about polls such as this. They don't really mean a whole lot. The only polls that really matter happen at polling places in the month of November. If you make a big deal about the perception of Joe in Connecticut then the link I posted should be of equal concern to all of us. Are we gonna bag the bumble living at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave in a gunny sack, too or are democrats exempt?

I keep reading similar articles.  Is this specific to Lieberman, or for incumbents in general?

Specific to Lieberman - and nothing new. I would question why the poll asked about the Democratic approval ratings when he isn't even a Democrat and got elected primarily with Republican votes.

He left the party two years ago because the Democrats kicked him out in the primaries.

Lieberman ran as an Independent against Democrat Ned Lamont. The Republicans nominated some nobody who only got 6% of the votes or so.

servantforuse -> RE: Lieberman's Approval Ratings Tank In Connecticut (1/9/2010 5:43:24 PM)

Sorry to disappoint you Brain, but Lieberman will win re election without much of a problem. The DNC will not fund anyone running against him.

Brain -> RE: Lieberman's Approval Ratings Tank In Connecticut (1/10/2010 4:42:21 PM)

I may be wrong but I don't think that's true, last I heard Obama himself was going to campaign in Connecticut to get rid of Lieberman once and for all. And this time I don't think whoever the Democrats run in Connecticut is going to have a problem beating Lieberman. I wouldn't run Ned LaMont again but I think anybody reasonable could win. My personal favorite is Robert Kennedy Junior. It's close enough to New York that they would accept him in Connecticut.
