I've met some of those! And you're right, they "pretend" to know. But I don't believe age has all that much to do with it. I've talked with a few that are 45+ but have very limited experience, whether by choice or not. I think that's what makes some of the difference. I don't even think that age has anything to do with sex drive, I just believe that there are some that have found out for themselves what it is that will make them happiest and they go for it. But, again, that is experience talking. I can't see taking on a 21 yr old that has just discovered this lifestyle.... I've raised my kids, but in the same respect, I can't see taking on a 50 yr old that has just discovered the lifestyle either. When I was younger and had more energy I was more then happy to train, not anymore... Age has nothing to do with it, knowing yourself, being honest with yourself and with a potential partner and understanding what you want from your chosen orientation... that's what matters.

Greetings to A/all

I think the MIstress/Sub relation is so pure that ..its above caste ..creed..age..

So lets not limit it to age....

In response to your response to My post.  I never once said that I only accept those above a certain age, just prefer the older slaves/subs. if you were not responding to My post, but to the original OP I don't think others limit themselves to certain ages either, BUT since THEY are the Domme's it is THEIR choice if They wish to do so.

I've never known anyone to cast someone from service because they got too old -- I know a lot of families and couples where both members are in their 40s and 50s. They work well together and have been together for quite some time.

Of course I tend (as I think most people do) to associate with people who I respect and who are similar to myself so I wouldn't associate with people who just kick out others because they reach a certain age. This happens in non-kinky relationships too thus the concept of the trophy spouse after a divorce from a partner of multiple years.

To cast someone off simply because of age would be cruel in my opinion.

Age preferences are different -- when you are searching for a new partner (or an additional partner) it is one of many factors you include in your search.

There are many reasons to have age preferences. I don't think I need to list them, do I?

(snort)  from what I've seen... Many so-called 'dominants' (at least males) want younger fem subs.. because the less experienced people will put up with their shit longer.... An older sub often has more of a clue, and won't tolerate the mistreatment of an idiot for long.

Subs don't have an expiration date,   Their tolerance for BS does.

scifi.

I agree with what your saying and I've been noticing alot more witless idiots slapping on the Dom title just because they have a cock between their legs. Most of them think they can get away with it because frankly there just seems to be alot of fem subs who really want a Dom bad. Some so badly they will settle for what they can get. [&:]
A sub shouldnt have to put up with BS NOBODY should.

I don't think this is gender or sex specific -- I've met women who fit the same description and men who do not.

Thanks, TammyJo.

I guess we feel the same way where that is concerned.  I'm all for personal preferences but it is strange to me that so many people choose somone so much younger and it surprises me when people can discard relationships because of age.  I know several submissives who have been deeply hurt by this.  I was anxious to hear how other people felt about it.

Thanks everyone,
Lady Thornrose

Funny - I have my sights set ON the 40-60 age group.  I am 52.  As long as they show up as promised - LOL.

Now.... if we want to speak of "ageism" - I received a message from a 44 yr old Dom last night - called me "granny".  (the rotten little whip-snapper - LOL).

proudsub -> RE: Do subs have an expiration date? (3/23/2006 1:21:57 PM)

I turn 60 this year and certainly don't feel past my "expiration date" but my joints may be. However the dynamic will always be there, just the positions are different. Our D/s relationship gets better and stronger every day.[:)]

darcyspanties -> RE: Do subs have an expiration date? (3/23/2006 2:03:28 PM)

I don't judge by age, it's just a number, I find their time in this lifestyle more interesting. I'm fairly new (2 years) and get seriously pissed off when someone who has been in the lifestyle for longer states that I am doing something wrong....uh no I just do it different.....surely that's a good thing, keeping you all on your toes........[:)]

DiannaVesta -> RE: Do subs have an expiration date? (3/23/2006 4:37:02 PM)

Age doesn't matter to me. I retire a slave when he/she forgets why they are there or we just lose interest in one another.

So, I'm good with you until my Alheimer's kicks in? That's at least a few good weeks of slavery for me.

TeeGO -> RE: Do subs have an expiration date? (3/23/2006 5:36:48 PM)

Being 45 and inexperienced kind of sucks for me eh?  I don't think so.

It's my opinion (DUH obviously), it's all in the mind and the mind-set.  Maybe I'm delusional though.

There are often threads from young subs feeling they aren't given a chance because of their youth as well as threads from those feeling they are passed by as too old.  I think there are people of every age seeking people of every age.  It is often down to personal preference.

I tend to go for subs close to my own age as generally ( yes, there are exceptions) I find I have more in common with them.

So bring the subs in their 40's on  [;)]

Damn... I always knew you were a smart lady ; }

For the record.... I think any woman who would tend to negatively stereotype the physicality aspect of men over forty, not only has missed the boat, but I'd say there's a fairly good chance she mighta walked off the end of the dock and is now all wet.

The twenties were all fun and good times, the early thirties were a little more serious but somewhat still lackadaisical, the late thirties and early forties is the time to put that wisdom to good use and get real serious.

I have had a slave in their 60's...so the answer is no, not necessarily...it depends purely on the quality of the relationship.

For me, the difficulty at my age has just been in finding someone. I think, like a lot of lifestyle submissives who aren't really all that excited about professional sessions, we drop out of the search because we're competing with younger men who pretend to know what we learned, but also have that youth thing going for them. I've had 45 year old women tell me I'm too old (I'm 41). After that kind of response, you get really tired of the search really fast and look for alternatives. We're at that age where a good book does wonders.

Ahem, young people can devour books too!

I've been reading James Herbert's - Once and Steve Jackson's - Monster

As a young slave i look to Dommes who are more experienced and generally the more experienced the Domme the better the experience.

I've been told a lot of people start off submissive and grow to become Dominant, if that is the case then it may explain the logic. But i would have to say when i'm 40 i don't want to be tossed into the rubbish bin,  i want to carry on.

MichMasochist -> RE: Do subs have an expiration date? (3/24/2006 12:52:56 PM)

A couple for years ago I worked in a titty bar. I heard many of the strippers make comments about "old guy smell". I could relate in terms of "old gal smell". In my humble opinion BDSM is very much sexual, and sexual selection plays a very significant role as the primary factor. Regardless of what some claim that sexuality is not apart of their interest for their involvement in BDSM. With intellectual maturity, more eften associated with age, as a deciding secondary consideration.

Myself the age of the domme palys a part as well. I find myself questioning ability and experience of a woman under a certain age. While a woman over a certain age is undesireable and could never submitt to her. Of course her personality will utterly destroy everything. Or make her even far more beautiful than she physically is.

Laura -> RE: Do subs have an expiration date? (3/24/2006 9:39:43 PM)

I socialize with all kinds of people, all ages, all sizes, colours, etc. But, for a relationship I want a guy my age, my general background and so on. If we are going to fit into each other's lives then we need to fit into each other's lives. I don't do casual, if I'm considering a sub it's going to be as a relationship, subbing as part of the package, not the whole deal.

Vendaval -> RE: Do subs have an expiration date? (3/24/2006 11:09:58 PM)

Chronological age on the page is not a priority for Me.  The important attributes are
attitude, experience, being in decent health and of a sound mind, willingness to learn, and above all else, character.  I have had friends, lovers, and submissives in the age range of 21- 60's.  (I like to go out to nightclubs for live music and entertainment and the legal age for that here is 21 years of age.)

Be well,

-Vendaval-
