Kennedy's Senate seat, not his after all? The Dems may be on the cusp of losing their supermajority, with the upset poised to come from Massachusetts of all places.

Interesting times...

quote:

It’s the people’s seat, and it’s up for grabs

...When Ted Kennedy died five months ago, who would have guessed that the contest to replace him would be anything but a slam-dunk for the Democrats? Yet there was no slam-dunk on that stage last night, and the race certainly doesn’t feel like a slam-dunk now.

“It’s not the ‘Kennedy Seat,’ ’’ Brown has been reminding Coakley lately. “It’s the people’s seat.’’ Amazing thing is, he could be right.

I was listening to The Howie Carr Show wrko-680 (wrko680.com) this afternoon and Scott Brown has run out of signs, they "had" 8,000 of them and they're all gone!
That Martha Coakley the Dist. Atty who's running for the dems is a real pip. Going after gardening clubs that plant flowers on the medians and in front of municipal buildings for not paying their taxes on the dues they collect from members. In many cases older women who volunteer their time to make their cities, towns and neighborhoods prettier.
When she tried to associate Brown with Rush Limbaugh, Bush and Bill O'Reilly and others in the debate last night Brown turned to her and said; "I'm from Wrentham and I drive a truck."
I think she's from N. Adams in far Western Mass but I don't know what kind of accent she's trying to affect.
A week from tonight she'll be gone anyway.

They said on the News that Martha Coakley is in D.C. visiting the Dem National Committee to beg for funds. That is serious.
They know they're going to lose this election!
Scott Brown set a one day goal to raise $500k then after a few hours raised that goal to $750k when money began pouring in then, he raised it to $1M and that was met a few hours later! The grand tally was,.....$1.3 M.
Martha Coakley did the same and raised,.....$450k. That's why she's in Washington as I type this.
And they're going to have that sociopath Bill Clinton up to speak for her on fri. at a "fundraiser" of curse.
My brother the fire lt lives in Dracut, Mass right next to the N.H. border and he said there's "7 to 1" signs for Brown up there.
He lives right behind the farm that was owned by that pilot that was killed in 9-11.
He said people want a "clean break" from Kennedy. I think that's the *key* right there! Fourty seven years in that seat! We really do need term limits!
And of course that Moonbat gazette The Boston Globe (owned by the N.Y. Times) came out with a "poll" that has Coakley at "50%" and Brown at "35%".
That's probably right, if you switch the names! This is shaping up to be a real rout!
They said even Obama is, "getting nervous!" lol

That's why?

Not because he's of your ilk: staunch right-wingers who take every chance to make pro-right wing topics while trolling every anti-right wing topic that gets made.

I mean... that has to be the only reason you'd find Popeye's opinion to be anywhere close to even remotely valid, right?

"Arrogance", now I'm a "staunch right winger?"
Let's see, ...I believe in a woman's right to choose, I believe in gay marriage, I believe in legalizing marijuana, I believe in universal healthcare, I *despised* George Bush and never voted for him or his father, I'd like to see BOTH the Dems and repubs go extinct, I like Ron Paul's ideas,
I want out of all the "free trade" deals favored by *big corporations*,.....oh yeah, I'm a real "right winger" allright!
Where the hell did you get that from? Do you *really* think "right wingers" would invite me over to a backyard barbecue knowing where I stand on those issues? Seriously? Is Barny Frank "too conservative" for your liking?

Funny, Martha Coakley made the statement that there are no terrorists in Afganistan two days before those CIA operatives were killed! She said they were all in Pakistan! Gee, maybe "The Mob" killed them!
Today in Washington a reporter asked her if she still thought there were no terrorists in Afganistan, her reply, "no comment."
And Harry Reid said he "wouldn't seat" Brown until "after" the vote on healthcare!

Correction, when asked that question Coakley replied; "I'm sorry, does someone else have a question?"

Arrogance, here's a short clip for you to watch, about 15 seconds. It would also apply to that "Night of the global warmers" thread as well.

I have to admit, that was funny.

Here are a few more:

"I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts."

Popeye - I've gotten this one in my mail box a few times in the past couple of days....

Should be a fun election season. I'm registered as a member of NIP the 'Non-Incumbency Party'; whom I'm supporting monetarily, and with time, in hopes of winning the majority of the seats open for election come 2010.

Total crap propagated by Republican conservatives who, after Bush, Palin, and McCain, are too embarrassed to admit they are Republican conservatives.

Just like the teabaggers.

Suddenly we have this flood of "Independents" who sound exactly like conservative Republicans.

Tell me Merc, when did you ever believe in and trust Obama as the video says?

Oh, and I especially liked the part in the video where they included TARP, which if your memory is failing you as it seems to have failed the video's producers, was a Bush enactment.

No, did you? I didn't vote for him. Didn't vote for McCain either.

Somebody did - enough to put in power exactly who the video represents.

Was the video put out by an "Independent"? I didn't pick that up. But a "flood" - wow that's good news too.

Independent, "conservative Republican", Democrat, or whoever - as long as they aren't currently on the ballot as an incumbent they'll be getting my support. It makes it pragmatic in CA, but you can't blame that on Bush. Or can you?!

Edited to add:
PS - I like the TARP reference, another fact directed to the reality of no 'CHANGE' and the impotency of this Administration, amazing under the circumstances, to do anything different or effective. The resulting disenchantment of the plurality that elected Obama and the filibuster proof Congressional majority continues and will be critical to getting rid of more incumbents.

Of course - people such as you are content and pleased with all that's been accomplished by Obama and the Democratic party. The Republicans have the same blindly affiliated constituency base. Nothing can be done on either end of the polarized fringe; but it will be a tough sell come November to keep using the same old and tired; "It's Bush's fault" response to each and every ongoing, and getting worse, problem facing the country.

Here is one of my favorite Coakley responses from the debate the other night:

"If the goal was and the mission in Afghanistan was to go in because we believed that the Taliban was giving harbor to terrorists. We supported that. I supported that goal. They’re gone. They’re not there anymore."

Can you imagine the National lynching that would be taking place if Sarah Palin said that ? And no, I am not a fan of Palin, but Martha appeared equally unqualified and stupid.

Democrats and Republicans are on the same side moving in the same direction.Neither abide by the constitution....Except Ron Paul who was forced to run as a republican because they wouldn't allow the libertarian candidate to run or be in the debates.

I suggest you go tell that to the GOP.  I'm sure they believe they're the on the same side as Democrats.

It gets worse for Martha.
When her guy knocked that reporter to the ground last night she was comming out of a fundraising meeting. But not just any fundraising meeting, she met with *Lobbyists* from the healthcare industry, the big pharma guys, G.E. who'll be making a lot of the medical equipment under this new healthcare bill and a lot of others who would stand to make $big bucks$ from it.
Howie Carr this afternoon (WRKO 680 AM Boston) was talking about certain cases that she "broomed away" while D.A. including one of a judge who was popped for dwi.

Merc, yeah, it seems that the people of Massachusetts are going to be voting for "change" on tuesday.
Martha Coakley is walking around like she's shell-shocked.
