ORIGINAL: myotherself Thank you Cali, for really making me think more about this! I used to have a checklist of 'essentials' in a partner. Several years ago I met a guy who ticked very few of those boxes. He was 'wrong' in almost every area. And yet in the years we had together, I loved him with a passion I wasn't aware I was capable of. And he loved me too, even though I didn't match his 'ideals' either. Sometimes there's just a connection that defies logic. Now that I'm considering going out there and looking again, I think I need to re-evaluate how I go about it. What's funny, myo, is that I do have a list of qualities that I look for in a person, on my profile. Most of them I never would have thought to "say out loud", before my ex-husband. If nothing else, he showed me so many things that I am NOT willing to accept in a person. But it's not a ranked list... it's more of a "this is how I think, and this is how I operate, and if you think in a similar manner, we're going to have a better shot at it" sort of thing. Cali
