OK, so lets go with that; You would have let them fail, causing a total collapse of the American and possibly world economy.
I was answering what the I think the Tea Party people would have done.
That is not a principle, that is a dogmatic religious ideology, similar to the Marxists who always pursued the same policy, even if it led to disaster.
But moreover, what have any of the Tea Partiers suggested to prevent the kind of price fixing by insurance companies that in most cases have a 80% or more monopoly on the market?
How do they plan to rein in the power of the banks that are controlling Washington?
How do they plan to reduce the power of the investment firms that created these instruments of mass financial destruction?
The only answer we ever hear is:
1. Tax cuts
2. Deregulation
3. Jesus.
4. Guns.
5. More tax cuts.
They repeat this stuff like a religious mantra, over and over, as the all purpose solution for everything.
Most reasonable people believe that the banks, insurance companies, and investment firms have way too much power over both parties, and are a direct threat to our liberty and economic freedom. The Tea Party has no desire to reduce the power of these entities, but instead wants to give them more power, less control, and less taxation. This is because the Tea Party itself is a product of Washington lobbyists like Dick Armey and his firm.
Well, since I'm not a Tea Party Member, I can't answer for them, though I do know from the ones I have spoken to, that they aren't pro-banking. I also know letting AIG die would have taken down most of the risky players, that are up to their old games again, riding the recent stock market gains. I just read today, I believe it was Well Fargo, or one of the big boys that lost large amounts of money still, but turned a profit from "investment" gains. Yeah, things are so different 1/4 through the president of change. Those profits turn to losses really quick. LOL.
Anyway, As far as I'm concerned, the Dems, and Republicans are owned outright by the Banks. If the Tea Party people can get some new blood in there so be it, maybe a few good ones will slip in. They can't be any worse than what we have.
My solution, is rather simple maybe, but I'd limit the maximum size of any corporation by sector. For Individuals, I'd set a hard limit on Maximum Accumulated Worth, to like 20 Billion or some amount in that range. I'd also ban any Federal or State elected official from working in the private sector for a length of time equal to the time they held office. They'd be paid the same as they were in the office they held. Some people are better on their ass, than working afterall.
I do agree that the tea party is mainly a movement of manipulation, to try to round the fringe back into the republican fold, whether it will work or not, I don't know.
