i guess by safe i meant comfortable. i have been celibate for 18 years so comfortable is pretty much out the window.

Get yourself along to a munch or two. Safe and a pleasant way to meet people. Most have a 'welcome' system so see if they have a web site and make contact with the organisers first if you feel uneasy.
