I don't always want to be told ahead of time, but sometimes it's helpful, even if just logistically.

On the other hand, one of the reasons why I like to not be told is that I am then given the opportunity to get past the thoughts that are stopping me from completely being in the moment (if any) and just simply do as I'm told. I love the mind shift.

I am more than willing to obey immediately but will admit that sometimes the anticipation of something coming can be great fun. I bow to whatever is His pleasure; to tell me in advance or to tell me as He needs it. I feel very fortunate because I am given a blend of both.

It depends. Now if I don't make sense, forgive me because it's 4:30 in the morning and I have no clue why the hell I'm up :(

With my ex Dom, I sometimes wanted to know ahead of time. Maybe not everything that was going to happen, but a hint so I could make sure I was in the right head space. There was a couple of times when we played and he did stuff when I wasn't fully prepared which left me an emotional wreck afterwards.

With a new Dom I'm currently experimenting with, I did ask for info before we did anything the first time. He had certain instructions for me and when I asked him about them, his response was couldn't he surprise me? He did hint at another girl being there, which did happen. But only after we had quite a few conversations about what I like and don't like. etc.

Did that make sense? Did it even answer the question? lol

Anyway, point is, sometimes I would like to know, most times, I will do as told.

Depends on what you mean. If it's something that requires research, planning, props, or logistics, a little notice is helpful. If it's "show up naked, wearing a raincoat"... not so much.

If he wants me to make twice-baked chedder potatoes for his office potluck, I'd like some notice. Not like that one time when I was miserably sick and whiping them up at the last minute, scooping the insides out of the halves out at about 11 PM. Or if he wants me to make bread, I need some notice as the recipe he likes takes a long time to raise and bake.

If he just wants to take me up the butt, I really don't need much notice.

I'm a service-oriented submissive. Some types of service can require weeks of preparation. Waking up on Saturday morning and being told there will be 70 people descending on the house for a family reunion would probably throw me over the edge. However being told to "come with me" and being led into the basement to find everything laid out for playtime is great fun! I liked those kinds of surprises.

No. I don't want to always be told ahead of time. But like others have said, depends on what he wants. If it requires prep work, special instructions, research, etc., it is nice to be told ahead of time. That way I can be prepared and do what he wants the right way and do it well.

You make a great point. This morning the Man told me he wants chicken cacciatore this weekend. He asked, "Have you made this before?" I said nope, and he said "Well now you have some time to figure it out." Had he just said "Make me some chicken cacciatore" out of the blue, right when he wanted it, he'd have had to wait until I figured it out and went to the store to get everything we need. And, his daughter is with him this weekend and she's vegan, so this means I'm planning a separate pot of pasta with marinara for her.

Turns out, it's an easy meal and I pretty much keep everything it requires in the kitchen anyway. So he wouldn't have had to wait very long after all, lol.

I stand by my original answer of "I obey--it makes no difference how much notice I get," but of course, the results can be better with notice, depending on what he wants. The cooking examples are good ones. If he says, "Serve me dinner right now" and we don't even have groceries in the house, no amount of obedience will make the dinner appear. I trust him to give reasonable commands. He's an adult, so if he says, "Serve me dinner right now" and I say, "May I go buy groceries to make dinner first?" he will undoubtedly say, "of course." But the end result--me doing everything I can to obey his command--is the same.

I always prefer to know what is expected of me and when it is expected. Only occasionally do I want to know why, luckily he is open to my questions. He also knows that I perform best when I have clear direction and that surprises make me uncomfortable (not in a fun way).
