Actually I am more happy with Obama than any other part of our government. He needs to reevaluate having Rom Emanuel as his sidekick though

He also needs to evaluate Arne Duncan and Timothy Geithner.
I was pissed when Geithner, the tax cheat was selected.
Anyone even heard of Arne Duncan??? Our Secretary of Education?
I have little to no faith in Arne Duncan, as Secretary of Education.

But let's just sit back 3 more years and see what big, tall Arne comes up with.

Really? I got the impression that the lefties are even more pissed off with the guy than the right leaning idiots like the more embarrassing bits of this board.

Moon, the left got *OWNED* bigtime in the last election.

Rahm sure didn't pan out like I thought he would. I thought the guy was gonna be a huge partisan ass. I've barely heard or read anything about him the first year. Not that his boss isn't partisan enough for the both of them.

Bob Chapman said today that Obama will most likely not remain President after July.

And why does good old Bob say that?

Because the Supreme court is reviewing his  citizenship status. ..and July is when they get to it.

He is and always has been a citizen. The question people had was if he was a natural born citizen.

I compare Obama to the senate at this time, and he wins....

Not saying I approve of his job, and I hope he will get better people around him... if he doesn't do this soon I will not vote for him again.

The establishment does not like people to be elected president who might think to change things. Hence status quo. Both McCain and Obama had big business money stuffed in their pockets. Hence all the lobbyist Obama is surrounded by.

Bodies at rest tend to remain at rest. It takes an outside force acting on it to move it.

Aneirin -> RE: Obama - failure, but change is coming (1/22/2010 6:37:02 PM)

Just a question to those who , it seems on every occaision rant lefty, rightwing, socialist, republican, whatever in answer to anything anyone puts up, do you never get tired of seeing with blinkered views, can you not look at the bigger picture without seeking a partisan view of things?  Maybe it might be that despite yourselves being of the united states, divided you are, and with that, divided you may fall, who cares about political party bullshit clubs, they serve themselves, not you, you are just a pawn to be used and as history shows, later abused.

After a year of disappointing progress towards the change that was expected I contend that Obama has failed so far only due to a degree of naivity on his part that compares well with the scale of expectation placed upon him.

I contend that it has been his collegiate approach - something which may have served him well previously - that has undermined him as president, a position in which strong leadership rather than a cooperative approach is expected.  I contend also that this approach on his part has not served to change the approach of others in congress, who have rather seen it as a green light to continue, indeed heighten their partisan self interested behaviours, the culpability for which when the American people observe it, is perceived to lie at the White House frontdoor.

I contend also that we may expect to see real change at the White House on this account in the very near future. A change in approach towards telling rather than asking, instructing rather than suggesting, directing rather than proposing. In other words I contend Obama has learned a great lesson - that a strong leader is respected and criticised only for his failures, whereas a weak leader is regarded as a joke and condemned for every failure that others might pin to him.

Obama was elected due to widespread public anger and the perception that he was a new broom in a deeply divided nation. In trying to sweep clean, changing the business as usual agenda, he has run aground as the congress refused change and went back to its everyday ways. Obama will no longer put up with this rubbish, just as the people will not; he is not foolish enough to ignore the ongoing malaise.

I contend that the change that was expected is coming, by way of a change in approach that will make heads spin - first and foremost in the Democratic party in the congress.

E

Ellen,

With the State of the Union coming up this week, I'd not be surprised.

If I may point out a simple fact of constitutional law, Obama's mother was an American citizen, that makes Obama an American regardless of where he was born. However it is a moot point since he was born in Hawaii and even the right winger blow hards like Limbaugh think that the birthers are a political joke.

That sounds ominous. Do Homeland Security know about this?

Yes they do.  Every embassy in the world gets his newsletter.

Where does that come from?  He claims that some embassy employees subscribe to his newsletter - that doesn't mean that all embassies get it.

BTW, weren't we supposed to have a bank holiday in 2009 and a dollar devaluation by now?

Explain to me how you see that, because what I've seen is Obama trying to reach across the aisle but Republicans refusing every attempt.

I never realized my links were fucking.

Is that why there are so many different articles about Obama reaching out to Republicans?

The links are fucking and reproducing.

Well, that explains it, case closed.

Thanks for another enlightening conversation Willbeur.
