I'll say this... we are in for a wild ride for the next ten months no matter how it adds up.

That's some funny shit. This will be the usual midterm election. the minority party will pick up a few seats but not enough to change who controls either house. The 2012 cycle is looking grim indeed for the GOP. FNC itself couldn't find a way to spin the fact that Obama handily beats all the leading GOP candidates.

Yes and young Patches Kennedy is extremely vulnerable in R.I. 1
There's already two people lining up against him.

When did Obama show up on everyone's political radar?

Who's to say the next GOP Presidential candidate won't appear like Obama?

I think that if Obama drops some of his attitude, and starts to listen and operate in a more mainstream/moderate way, he could still recover from the current political mess that he is in.  Become something along the lines of a Bill Clinton "New Democrat".

Absent that, then things will be pretty hairy for the current Democratic leadership in the next two elections.

That isn't necessarily to say that the Republican's would overwhelmingly benefit from the situation (although they will benefit to some extent).  The kicker is the Tea Party movement, and the Independent/Moderate vote, which is deserting the Dems in amazingly high numbers, and how much the Republicans can capture of that feeling.  I'm not sure that either party is really capable of that.  The current Republican "leadership" hasn't retain a whole lot of crediablity to that section of the electorate, either.

I agree, with the exception of the Tea Party, which I think is more talk among like people rather than any change.

What saved Bill was when the GOP won big in the 94 mid terms. He did well because he was signing things Newt sent to his desk. If the GOP does well in the 2010 mid terms it could have the same positive fallout for Obama.

I seriously doubt that Obama or any of his people have the intelligence to pull that off. Arrogance, stupidity and contempt for the American people seems to be the bedrock of this entire administration.

Certainly a pattern we've seen before.

But Clinton was smart enough to go along with it.

Hubris on the part of the current administration does not point to the same flexibility.

I suspect that the further loss of seats in Congress will end up being an excuse for administration to blame others for their own failures, and result in some pretty surprising changes in the 2012.

Rule. How much money would you have put down 2 months ago that a republican would be elected to the Senate in MA, ??

I wouldn't have, but I don't believe it is a vote against Obama or the Democrats or health care reform as has been suggested.

She ran a poor campaign and put her foot in her mouth on more than one occasion.

Oh, I'm sorry.

I keep forgetting that we can no longer refer to the President who never was.

That's ancient history.

Should I count how many times Clinton and Carter have been mentioned on these threads in the last month?

But I do understand the Republican embarrassment at having elected someone like him..................twice.

Unfortunately, you sometimes have to live with your mistakes.

IMO Billy C was out for Billy C, period, and was a chameleon like no other.
The current resident of the White House is neither as gifted nor as intelligent (see: TOTUS). He is also a true believer, wedded to the far left. He is what he is..... Change? I don't think he can.
