In my experience, it's effects both genders.  My Owner and I get messages regularly from people, male and female, who want us to do all sorts of humiliating and debasing things to them, with no regards to either our lack of interest or reality.  In the same vein, I get a ton of messages on my profile from dominant females(and a few male ones) who claim to want this sort of thing.  The one thing all these people share is annoying stupidity, not gender.

The profiles that I see that say this pretty much rarely, if ever, appear legitimate.  They have pics swiped from the internet somewhere, and have short profiles that say nothing much, and often start out with "Am Jane Smith. Am from California USA."

In my opinion I would say it's got nothing to do with gender at all, but is really down to the individual.

However what never ceases to amaze me is how many people will somehow leap into the fallacy of generalization and assume that all submissives are inferior in some way or wish to be treated as such.

And this often appears to be the rule rather than the exception.

I'm curious if the op has misread profiles. Are they really saying they wish to be treated as a dog or that they want a pet-owner relationship. Because the two are very different.

The first is dehumanizing. The second is a warm, protective relationship.

Maybe it's partly to do with trying to fit in, esp the inexperienced. You know, a notion where they believe this is how people talk/behave in the lifestyle.

Though I don't actually state it in my profile, I much prefer a sub (or women in general, actually) who are all soft and girly in nature. So when I read a profile about some fem/sub who wants to be treated like a dog/whore/slut etc, that's where I find myself 'X'ing outa there....

Focus.

I always thought men considered the perfect women, sub or not, to be one who was a lady by day and a whore by night
*giggles*

Yeah, I can relate.... For mine, she won't be the latter without being the former, *first*!

What I do with/to my girl is for our eyes only. But even in private, I have a special loathing for descriptive terms such as "whore" and "slut" etc and I simply don't use them, not even when she's eyeball deep in trouble over something.

So yeah, it's a most unattractive quality (to me) when I see it pasted across someone's public profile. And I don't just mean the actual words; profiles tend to mimic the theme of those who use them and I'm long gone....

Focus.

No male wants to say flat out, "i want to be owed, used as a dog, or used as whatever you want."

Don't know where you're perving, but a LOT of the males I come into contact with say that they're into degradation, ownership/slavery, objectification and usage. Its very common.

*goes to see where the OP is from*

I think many people change their kinks as time goes by. I've been thru various stages in my bdsm journey and my craving for debasement lasted several years. I've known women with the same cravings too altho it does seem to be a popular male interest.
I never thought for a second that I was a worthless worm etc. I merely enjoyed going as low as I could and immersing myself in the role. It was all good fun and I think I managed to exorcise my demons in an enjoyable and therapeutic manner.

That's interesting as I feel as if more male submissives say they want to be treated as nothing and are worthless etc

That's my impression as well.

Ditto. I see way more of the "treat me like a worthless pig" from males. Yes I spend too much time profile perving. .

i agree as well.  i'm a sub male, but i am often reluctant to describe myself as such because so many sub males are of the type described above, and i don't want to be thought of in that light.

Would that be Jane Smith from Alabama, California?  I think I know her.

To the OP:

I think the difference (regardless of gender) is the difference between play and relationships.  If you just want a fun Friday night, then all that name stuff is part of the ritual.  If you want a relationship, and you are somewhat realistic about it, then you will want to be treated like a person.

YMMV,
sunshine

I would say it is more common in male rather than female submissives also to be honest so it kinda makes the op redundant. My theory about why it is more common with men is that there is a higher number of men appealing to a lower number of female dominants, so they try ultra hard often widely missing the mark

There's also the possiblilty that a lot of those "female" sub profiles calling themselves dogs & pigs are really written by males.

Bingo!!!

So, i have been reviewing other submissives/slaves profiles (males and females) and have noticed a common occurrence among female submissives/slave as opposed to males in the same role.  Females (mind You, i use the upper case at the beginning of "Females" because i believe in Female supremacy) , often bluntly state that they are "animals" or "dog" and such.  However, males on the other hand, tend to beat around the bush.  No male wants to say flat out, "i want to be owed, used as a dog, or used as whatever you want."  But Females do!   Why is this?  is it simply the sexual nature?  Or is it more?

What about a little consideration for gender diversity?
And I absolutely disagree about your thesis anyway.
I've no quantifiable evidence from here or ny other site because i don't read that many profiles.
Indeed I only read a few of the profiles of those who are searching mine.
Furthermore I don't want to be owned 'in general' by all and sundry.
I've been owned and know that responsibilities it carries.

I think of how I treat my Pomm and well that wouldnt be good Domming to treat them like a dog..not in my world. But if they want to feel like a stray at the pound,I do have a cage...I think the men want to be treated like a lower life form because thats what they have picked up on what a sub should be,and as already stated the female wants that owner-pet relationship.
