Dear A/all,

Practical question - what's the best way to get candle wax stains out of the carpet? Madam had me drip hot wax on my balls while standing up and i dripped some on to the carpet. i got the pieces of wax up easily enough, but the grease stains wouldn't come off.

Take a brown paper bag and lay it on the stain, heat a clothes iron to low and iron over the stain, it should come out. Paper towels should work as well but have a lower "burn point" than the bags so if you use paper towels be sure to keep an eye on them.

I think my mum (I'm defering to the expert here, lol) uses an old towel so she doesn't have to worry about burning anything.

An old towel you don't mind throwing away would work as well, but the residue is wax and the towel will be ruined. That is why i recommend the bag, it is disposable.

Yep, was about to recommend an old towel. The bag works, but, the towels or even old t-shirts, ratty jeans, something you don't mind just tossing that's made of cloth works better. The more porous, the better it will work, as it will hold onto the wax better. Also, start at the edges of the item you're using, and work inward, conserving space, as it might take a few attempts to get it all.

In future, use a shower curtain liner to protect the floor or bedding from wax. They're cheap enough and will prevent this.

Agreed. One of the cheapest accessories out there (you can buy them at the dollar store) and should be a part of any wax play kit.

If they are actual stains (ie: red wax or some such) you may get the wax up but the stains you are more than likely stuck with.

Professionals often freeze the wax with something like freon spray. It freezes the carpet and the wax and it comes right off. (we did this with laffy taffy once, but I know pros do it with candle wax)
