LOL, sounds to me like the democrats are running scared.

I don't know.  Seems something similar was once circulating only I can't remember what it was lol.  (big help there [8|])

But, I used to do political surveys for Public Opinion Research.  They were sponsored by the DNC of NJ and when questions were asked as in the OP (what do you think of the over-spending democrats are doing), only I was asking democratically skewed questions, republicans picked up on it right away and either ended the survey or just hung up (often accusing me of trying to scam them. ROFL)

The moral of this story is......read, (or listen) and if you're going to give money, its in your best interest to know for sure who its going to.

Goodness!  And if I were ever to receive a letter like that, it would definitely be clear to me.  They only ask if you're a conservative republican, moderate republican, liberal republican, or if you're an independant who leans republican.  Annnnd signed by their fearless leader, Michael Steele at the end.  Its a no-brainer, for me.  Shame on them repubs!!!  [;)]

lol i had not seen the letter until now. but, i can see the CB's point in all this. the Census is done on the basis of goodwill alone, praying people will return either the forms or allow the interviews and give honest responses. Something like this... from either side... could have many people just tossing them away in the trash without even opening them.

2010 Congressional District Census
Commissioned by the Republican Party

Well damn, holy shit, that'd make any poor fool think it came from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Thanks tazzy,

K.

K,
You forget, most reading it attended the US Department of Indoctrination, I mean Department of Education, public school system. Understanding big words like "commissioned" may be beyond them. Is there an 'Ebonics' equivalent?

Termyn8or -> RE: GOP sends letter appearing to be census form (1/26/2010 9:38:00 AM)

Hmmmm, anyone got a copy of the old Harvad Graphics 1.0 ? I have the symbol library for it which allows me to print government letterheads. Yup I could send you a letter from the IRS, the EPA, whatever. It looks real, and with this dandy laser printer think what I could do ! Nextdoor I have this neighbor, nice guy but not really too bright. I was thinking of fucking with his head. He put up a new garage, I was thinking of sending him a letter from the EPA ordering the removal of said structure for environmental reasons. Like we found some rare species of insect in the debris from the old garage of some shit. I didn't do it because people literally are that stupid. I mean if he tore his brand new garage down because of me I would be pretty much dogshit.

Anyone who has gotten any significant junk mail in their life should not be phased by this. Not at all.

More often the stuff I get is something like a "Survey", they ask you questions and at the end of this "survey" they ask for a "donation" and there a few boxes to check with differant amounts.
And the questions are dumb; "Do you think that the govt. spends too much money?" Ahhhh,...YEAH!
That type of stuff, like they don't want to..."Offend"... anyone.
And they used to use envelopes that looked like the ones that held govt checks, so people would open them I assume.
That's the "trick" in the mass mailing business, design your envelopes so that people will want to open them.
You can put "Census" on them and ask how many people live in the home, "Survey" on them and ask dumb questions or any number of other things but one thing they all have in common,.....they ALL want a check!

While,. to me it seems pretty evident, even some within the RNC see the potential problems with such mailings.

The ranking Republican on the subcommittee, North Carolina Rep. Patrick McHenry, has also raised concerns about the RNC mailing, though an aide said he hasn’t complained to the RNC directly.

“Congressman McHenry is very concerned about the integrity of the census and would discourage any organization from distributing information that intentionally or not is easily confused with official U.S. Census materials,” the aide, Parker Poling, said in reference to the RNC mailer.

Maloney complained of the same mailing in 2000, during that year’s census, and Maloney and Clay asked the postmaster general to open an investigation into whether the mailings violate the Deceptive Mail Prevention and Enforcement Act. Postal officials responded — as they did 10 years ago — that the mailing stays on the correct side of the law because it doesn’t use the full name of the U.S. Census Bureau or the seal of any government agency.

I found another copy of the letter, along with the envelope. Also included is the 2000 attempt by the same party.

This is, after all, the same country where people were unable to punch the correct hole or thoroughly enough to cast a vote.

Especially while their committing voter fraud by having multiple ballots in the same machine.

Whoops, that's how the equipment is *supposed* to work.

No argument with that, Termy, but there are a lot of people stupid enough to fall for that one.

I get stuff from Republicans, Democrats, America First party, Constitution party, libertarian party, and green party.
I put myself on all their mailing lists just to keep up with everything that's going on.
