I think he is going to truly screw up in this speech.  There is talk on the news that he will freeze spending for the next 3 years, except for military and counter-terrorism.

Instead I would like to hear what direction he will be taking to create jobs in this country.  Though that is near impossible when for the last 30 years we have lost our manufacturing base in this country.  We have seen for the last 10 years tax cuts have not created job, well they did in China and India.

How do you propose President Obama "fix" policies that started 30 years ago, and have been going on ever since?
There is no instant fix for our economic situation and we are rolling downhill fast.
President Obama did not create this 30 year in the making, chickens coming home to roost employment problem.

Even if he does lower taxes, people that are unemployed will not be buying products or services {other than necessities, if they can help it} and most of us that are employed are trying to save, get OUT of debt, and spend as little as possible.

They have created huge profits, but it seems those huge profits have not equaled jobs in this country.  Hell, even Walgreens announced 2 weeks ago that all their accounting will be done overseas to increase profits.

So how do you get business to invest in this country?  It worked very well up until Reagan lowered the corp tax and what changed was profits increased, CEO pay went through the roof and jobs moved overseas to increase profits.  People bitch about Corp taxes, yet in 2008 AIG paid less than 1% taxes (it was in Time/Newsweek/and Crains) Everyone bitches about the high tax rate but seem to forget the final rate corporations paid after deductions are taken.

No need to really, we will be talking about it for at least a week on here.
I will fill you in on what you don't know.
I am fair and unbiased, just like fox news.

Mia, i have to be honest. i've NEVER looked forward to the state of the union address. When i was a kid, it always inturrupted my favorite TV shows, and now, i have some Hitachi time scheduled. Running that and the TV just doesn't seem "green" i don't like to pull so much energy at one time.[image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m21.gif[/image] Unless Rahm Emanuel is going to be getting some face time....then i'll turn off the volume and sorta kill two birds with one stone....yanno???

Well, since you have a "date" you can get a pass.
It is good to be green!

I am sure our resident political "experts" will be giving their/our professional opinions!

Well I'll be happy to discuss it with you, Mia.  I even found a pool to get into.  How many times President Obama says, "I," and how many times he blames Bush.

Well, Mia, I know there are people who believe that wholeheartedly, but no, I'm not going to accept your premise, nor that of the President, if he gets up in front of a joint session of Congress and makes excuses for himself.

Rich, can we go back about 16 months ago when the stock market tanked,
unemployment was going sky high, and real estate was in the toilet?
This economy was in the gutter, LONG before President Obama became President.

What the hell did GWB do his last year in the White House?
Oh, I remember now, he told us the economy was just fine, 30 days before the stock market tanked in September/ October 2008!

I am not saying I approve or agree with all of President Obama's choices or decisions { I do NOT!}, but no one can tell me, this country was not in horrible shape BEFORE President Obama was elected.
