I can't speak to all of these, but.... Because the New York Times and NPR have their own fact-checkers and ombudsmen, welcoming/publishing reader/listener feedback, and run corrections when warranted? And strive for balanced reporting, in the sense of inherently/coherently balanced, not in the sense of countering perceived threats elsewhere thereby intentionally slanting coverage? I don't do TV anymore, but last I saw of it, my quarrel wasn't bias, but fluff and a culture of celebrity rather than coverage. And I don't trust Bill Gates to deliver dependable computer products, so I certainly wouldn't trust his hand in the news. As for CBS and CNN, don't you guys attack them regularly in these threads? Seems to me they get plenty of criticism. Newsweek is a weekly popular overview--essentially, in the same camp as Parade, maybe one notch above. Use accordingly.
