Brain -> Instant Poll 90% of Republicans Who Did Not See Obama's Speech Disagree With It (1/28/2010 11:26:52 AM)

No point in Obama being bi-partisan, he may as well go left and satisfy independents and his base, which he won't do and did not do last night because the Democrats are just as corrupt as the Republicans.

Instant Poll: 90% of Republicans Who Did Not See Obama's Speech Disagree With It

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) - President Barack Obama's State of the Union address has already gotten a big thumbs-down from one key group of voters: Republicans who did not see the speech.

According to an instant poll conducted by the University of Minnesota's Opinion Research Institute, 90 percent of Republicans who did not see the President's speech strongly disagreed with it.

Additionally, 95 percent of Republicans polled agreed with the statement, "If I had seen the President's speech, I'll bet I would have hated it even more."

Davis Logsdon, who supervised the poll, said there were certain difficulties in polling Republican voters: "Many of them would not let us finish asking the question before answering 'No.'"

Brian, most Democrats have even figured out that whenever Obama's reading his teleprompter he's lying.

You're lagging behind the curve, buddy! Try and catch up.

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama told Americans the bipartisan deficit commission he will appoint won't just be "one of those Washington gimmicks." Left unspoken in that assurance was the fact that the commission won't have any teeth.Obama confronted some tough realities in his State of the Union speech Wednesday night, chief among them that Americans are continuing to lose their health insurance as Congress struggles to pass an overhaul.Yet some of his ideas for moving ahead skirted the complex political circumstances standing in his way.A look at some of Obama's claims and how they compare with the facts:

Or when a Republican is moving their lips.

Or the right rant is typing in this forum. All well practiced babble and regurgitation.

    Yawn.

I didn't watch Obama's SOTU speech last night and my reason for not doing so -- HE LIES --  has been justified by all the various, i.e., not only "Faux" News, media and online discussions about same.

rulemylife -> RE: Instant Poll 90% of Republicans Who Did Not See Obama's Speech Disagree With It (1/28/2010 1:21:14 PM)

    You know, it's interesting.

This whole fact-checking thing started with a couple non-partisan organizations and has now blossomed into every news organization and blogger publishing opinion columns and labeling them as "fact-check".

Sanity -> RE: Instant Poll 90% of Republicans Who Did Not See Obama's Speech Disagree With It (1/28/2010 2:12:58 PM)

Forget the fact checks, so far as Obama's concerned. We've already moved far beyond that:

    quote:

Reality check: President Obama gropes for a strategy

President Barack Obama on Wednesday night tacked to the right with appeals for tax cuts for small business and new investments in off-shore oil drilling and nuclear power. He tacked to the left with renewed vows to let gays serve in the military and to get U.S. troops out of Iraq.

He sounded at times like a Bill Clinton-style centrist, at others like a bank-bashing populist. He taunted Republicans, and also presented himself as a lonely tribune of cooperation and bipartisan civility in Washington.

In a favorable light, his State of the Union speech may have revealed the mind of a leader who has never cared much about traditional ideological categories and is determined to create his own results-oriented composite of ideas from across the spectrum.

Less charitably, the address could be interpreted as the work of a president who is desperately improvising by touching every political erogenous zone he and his advisers can think of.

Under either judgment, however, it was inescapable that his 69-minute speech — for all the rush of words and policy ideas — was a document of downsized ambitions for a downsized moment in his presidency.

It sounded more to me like a speech written by a team of writers that never bothered to meet and compare notes.

Depends on which side you are on whether you view it as truthful.

Since 65% of FNC viewers are either liberal or independent, the "what they want to hear" line is bullshit.

WIth statements like this why anyone would ever believe a single word that comes out of your piehole is beyond me.

Just another conservative that places  more weight on trying to prove a point than being accurate or honest.

    Liar.

In all fairness I watched his speech in Chicago on election night. I gave him the benefit of the doubt then but I am still waiting for him to deliver. I didn't see last nights SOTU address so I have no opinion on it.

Well if there is one thing GOP and theirs supporters should know about is "LIES" it is all there party has

Forget the 8 trillion they borrowed for the war, blame that on Clinton, because they inherited 9/11nfrom him

Forget the "we will only be there for 6 months" or "our troops have everything they need"

Forget that in 2000 Bush promised health insurance reform for millons of Americans with out insurance

Yup when it comes to lying the GOP is the best

And this is what democrats do when they're faced with any kind of opposition lately:  They blame Bush.  Typical.

But let's assume you're right about all of those points, okay?  Let's assume for a second.  Does this mean that every president after Bush (who was NOT a real republican  by any means) should be a liar?  They should be less than their best?  That they should waiver on mediocrity or craptasticness?  Seriously?

Arpig -> RE: Instant Poll 90% of Republicans Who Did Not See Obama's Speech Disagree With It (1/28/2010 7:53:35 PM)

Well I watched it & listened as well...some of the things he proposed are sensible, and the fact that he isn't sticking to the left/right paradigm is to me a good thing.

TheHeretic -> RE: Instant Poll 90% of Republicans Who Did Not See Obama's Speech Disagree With It (1/28/2010 8:09:41 PM)

I watched it.  Hell, I even backed up the dvr twice to be sure I heard him say what I thought I heard him say about new nuclear power plants, and going after our own resources.

There was bullshit, there were half-truths, and outright lies.  There were elephants in the room he never mentioned (Gitmo).  Such is the nature of the SOTU.

I thought he did an excellent job with it.
