She disappeared halfway through the second page; it's not like we are talking over her or interrupting any meaningful dialogue she is trying to have. Would this really be humiliating? Threads digress all the time.

I think it depends on the intent........and I can't speak for anyone apart from myself. I just found the marmite/vegemite/crumpet/muffin talk a bit more interesting for a brief moment.

I'd go back to discussing humiliation but in this thread , with the OP as start point, there's not much left to be said.

I can't stand even the most playful, tender, silly little "Come here, slut" or anything of the sort.  I was sexually abused a long long time ago and those sorts of names - slut, whore, whatever - were rather a major part of that whole experience.  The associations will never go away completely, although I've come to terms with it and the only problem I have is when my Lord says those words in association to me.  It doesn't anger me, it hurts me deeply and he knows this and has never once forgotten, no matter how deep into 'dom-space' he gets.  It's one of the reasons I love and trust him so much.

Humiliation by name-calling has more to do with taboo things, I think, as I'm sure others have said a million times by now in this thread.  For my Lord and I, the 'names' he uses in disapproval for me are "bad girl", and "brat".  If I'm good I get called "pet", "puppy", "good girl", "my Rose", etc.  Neither of us feels like anything else is needed, and he gets just as turned on by calling me a brat as another Dom would by calling his sub a slut.  We both know what I am and what I am not and what I can be made to be, and he uses that knowledge to push my limits without breaking my spirit.  I love him all the more for it.
