So the problem is that his message resonates with people you are close with? I understand that you disagree with what he is saying, but why wish some health issue on him or anybody else you disagree with?

Great to see that kinder, more accepting side of the left.

I wouldn't generalise. I'm a hard and heartless commie, but it doesn't mean that there aren't any bleedin' heart libewals out there. See Jeffff, for example ;-) .

So what, if I get off on the thought of Glenn Beck and his ilk catching minor oto-rhino-laryngological ailments  ? Are you saying that your kink's better than my kink, hmmm? How very right-wing and intolerant of you  .

I have never claimed to be a kumbaya sort of guy. If and when his ratings fall, he will get the boot to the ass. Until then, not much you or I can do but ignore him and his parrots.

Let's not underestimate the cathartic power of laughter either: I find that laughing at clowns like Beck & Co. stuns their fans and admirers into silence more than anything else. Peace.

I think the real solution to solving many of the world's problems lies in doing away with all the protections for stupid people. You know the folks that just a generation ago would have been allowed to stick that fork in the electrical outlet, or used the metal ladder on the power lines during a thunderstorm to get their kite down, thus thinning the herd and sparing the gene pool from their reproduction. Sounds kind of harsh, but the fact is, they will be outnumbering the average Joe in a few years, and television, radio, and schools will continue to dumb down to their level.

So much for me being accepting and arms wide open, eh?

Have a great afternoon,
Thadius

I agree with that...:)

If it hurt to be stupid, more people would seek help.

You're okay with puff pieces from right leaning conspiracy theory blogs, then?

Can you show me a thread I started which uses a blog as the main talking point?

I try to use legitimate sources, and not wiki/blogs as anecdotal evidence to back up my argument.

Ignore him.  He's just trying to get your goat, in an attempt to make you uncertain, and thus less likely to post your opinion, or material supporting a conservative point of view.

Attempted intimidation, in other words.

I'm trying to intimidate rob? I don't think asking why he's whining about somebody mentioning a leftie blog is bad form comes under that firmhand.

The inability to take care of oneself is a self-solving problem.  As you stated Thadius, this may sound cruel or inhuman, but it is the truth.

Never far from my mind is this axiom:

Build a world safe for fools, and you will soon be overrun with them.

And it's corollary:

Idiot-proof the universe, the universe builds a better idiot.

If there is any social obligation it is to be prepared and capable enough that you are not a drain on others, and thus an impairment on their survival.  If we can all take care of our own, no one will need to take care of us.

Ignore him?

Why would anyone want to miss the funniest show on the air, especially when he gets all teary-eyed and starts his sobbing?

Yes, that's what we liberals do, intimidate others into accepting our point of view.

Bush said he would not point out any specific countries in his speech.

"Over time it's going to be important for nations to know they will be held accountable for inactivity," he said. "You're either with us or against us in the fight against terror."

(CNN.com - 'You are either with us or against us' - November 6, 2001)

Then, once his popularity sank, conservatives decided he really wasn't a conservative after all.  This stuff is just too funny to make up.

This argument will work better when you guys punch in accurate examples.

Until then, it's over-reaching attitude, not reality.

What??? But if we all cared for our own, how would others learn how to feed upon us; and how would the brightest of those feeders go on to gain dominion over us? ...

Seriously though, with the deep level of indoctrination that most of the world has gone through, it would take some serious deprogramming to launch the ideal you propose. My goodness, we can't even move the vast majority away from the illusory left vs right paradigm that exists here in the supposedly greatest country on the planet.

How on earth do we get from where we are today, to all of us taking care of our own?
