Takethiswaltz -> real names (3/25/2006 8:28:00 PM)

Is anyone comfortable signing posts with a real first name?
What kind of problems could arise from this?

Thanks for input.

I've been signing my real name for a decade.  So far, no problems at all.

Lordandmaster -> RE: real names (3/25/2006 9:24:26 PM)

My real name is Lordandmaster.

Edited to add: Nice avatar, Takethiswaltz.  What's it from?

IronBear -> RE: real names (3/25/2006 10:05:50 PM)

What real name do you want? The name i was given at birth? Naaa would cause problems for some family and associates and other people.

The name I was given by "Blood Brother" and his Father who "Adopted " me into their family?  I use it all the time >>>>>> Iron Bear

My family have for years always called me "Bear" because of my love for bears and the spiritual association of these great animals inboth the Celtic world and the Native American world...

<<<< Am just a bear who does not live in a big blue house >>>>

brightspot -> RE: real names (3/25/2006 11:44:25 PM)

My name is a very unique name and I don't feel comfortable
signing with it on the internet unless I am in a very, very trusting place(site).

LaM, the pic you referred to is a snip from a Dali painting.

SadistDave -> RE: real names (3/25/2006 11:49:07 PM)

I signed my name for about a year until I got into an in-depth discussion on another forum.  There were 3 other guys named Dave on the same thread. Half the posts started out with phrases like " I never said that, Dave did."

Been using -SD- ever since.

If my name was Elmer, or something else as unusual in this day and age, I'd still be signing my name. Since my name is so common, the only danger is confusion. I figure theres enough of that on the web already...

-SD-

Cin is my real name...I'm not particularily worried about using it, and I never sign an email or a post with anything else.

Cin

Wow! Were your parents hippies in the sixties, or perhaps psychic fortune-tellers?

Maam4slavegirl -> RE: real names (3/26/2006 12:03:36 AM)

I use my real  name, just as I use my email name as my user name on here. I live my life very open so I do not care who sees me on here or what I may post.

Takethiswaltz -> RE: real names (3/26/2006 9:02:08 AM)

thanks for the feedback, folks.  I love my real name and have wanted to use it but it's unusual and i fear axe murderers hunting me down and doin me in LOL.

Lord and master, wow!  Who ran that household when he was a child?  [:D]
I think Brightspot is correct, a snip from a Dali painting but i found it right here on the CM avatars.  I thought it was sorta cool.

signed,
Tara  [:D]

RosaB -> RE: real names (3/26/2006 9:08:37 AM)

Rosa is the name my real friends call me, the B some use affectionately towards me, some to insult, but it never does.  [:)]

IrishMist -> RE: real names (3/26/2006 9:26:58 AM)

Since my 'nic' is also my name, I see no problem what-so-ever

Gauge -> RE: real names (3/26/2006 9:52:14 AM)

My name is actually Johann Gambolputty... de von

spadsangelslave -> RE: real names (3/26/2006 10:01:12 AM)

hi my
real name Is joanne. [:)] nice to meet you A/all.

truesub4u -> RE: real names (3/26/2006 10:19:14 AM)

I sign my post as Jessica when the mood strikes me. It is my real first name and so far, no problems. But should it arise, I'll deal with like I deal with most others things... as it comes to me.

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: real names (3/26/2006 10:29:44 AM)

I occasionally add my real name to posts.  I'm not very worried about it, and I've never had any trouble with it.  Besides, my profile has my real name at the very top anyway.

~Michelle

P.S.-  LAM, the painting is "Slave Market with the Disappearing Bust of Voltaire".  Pretty appropriate.  (brightspot had the right of it.  It's a Dali painting.)  It's one of my favorites.  In the painting, the slave girl in Takethiswaltz's avatar is subtly flipping off the observer.

MySweetSubmssive -> RE: real names (3/26/2006 10:41:34 AM)

My first name is rare and makes me traceable.  I used to use it, but was traced by someone too persistent.

DesertRat -> RE: real names (3/26/2006 11:04:48 AM)

I've always signed with my real first name, except for the times when I space it out. I don't feel I'm divulging much info in doing that.

Bob

That is cuz your name is Bob. . . not Deanna Joy, not only mispronouncible (or should that be an "a"?), but too much too say . . . I prefer DJ.  Much shorter.

Best,

LaMalinche
