Brain -> Harper must make abortion part of health pledge, Ignatieff says (2/2/2010 9:26:03 PM)

Finally an issue in Canadian politics I can wrap my arms around and get into. I really want to watch this disingenuous prick, Harper, squirm. The moron thought this was going to be an easy apple pie issue to increase his popularity and get a majority government.

Harper must make abortion part of health pledge, Ignatieff says

Liberal Leader questions whether Conservatives will shy award from funding family-planning agencies

Ottawa — From Wednesday's Globe and Mail Published on Tuesday, Feb. 02, 2010 8:07PM EST Last updated on Tuesday, Feb. 02, 2010 11:12PM EST

If Stephen Harper wants to champion the health of the world's poor mothers, he'll have to go to bat for abortion, too, Michael Ignatieff says.

The Prime Minister has signalled that he plans to make maternal health in the developing world Canada's cause when he is host of the G8 summit in June.

Mr. Ignatieff said any efforts to reduce high death rates among mothers will have to include broader access to contraception. He also raised a fear that the Conservatives, like their counterparts in the United States, would shy away from funding family-planning agencies that support abortion rights.

“If we're going to improve maternal health and child health around the world, women need access to the full gamut of reproductive health services,” the Liberal leader told reporters Tuesday.

Being the ass that he is, Harper will probably sink the money into abstinence ad campaings. I'm a true blue liberal but Ignatieff doesn't really have the clout to order a snake like Harper around.

I wish it were so but I see this ending in a catastrophy. It is fundementally against Harper's religion to advocate abortion. And he is a fundementalist Evangelical (Christian and Missionary Alliance).

He won't have the same sense of obligation as a Canadian prime minister like Jean Chrétien did back in the day to say "I'm the Prime Minister first and a Catholic second" when confronted by the Pope about same sex marriage.

I fear this will end up in a big mess.

Well one would hope our PM wasn't as ideologically driven as they are south of the border, but who knows, he may just decide his warped religious views reflect reality.

Not so much an optimist as hoping our PM follows the tradition of not allowing his personal beliefs to dictate policy. As for proroguing, I am willing to bet we haven't seen the last of that little trick.

Having worked in the restaurant industry for wayyy too long, I have seen plenty and learned so much about people. You can tell alot about people by serving them.

This would have been about 7 years ago. I was working at a wretched pretentious place. The owner was a bald man with hair plugs who started out in the construction business and then decided to open a pizzeria. One thing led to another and now he has a wine cellar fit for a small country. The guy is a pompous jerk-off who humiliates his staff in public, one of the worst kinds of boss.

One day I was serving a table of five suits. I generally like serving suits. They are fun to mess with.

Harper is a pussy bitch. I know his type and usually it is women bitches that are this way. They pretend you are not standing there to take their order. They continue their lame conversation while you stand there awkwardly waiting for a natural break, but they dont create one so you walk away and come back at which time they act snippy like you kept them waiting. When they order it is in the middle of one of their lame sentences, "I was at Prada and the shoes were sold out in my size, I'll have the chicken caesar with no croutons, dressing on the side, no parsley, no garlic and have them make my dressing out of canola oil instead of olive oil and please add extra anchovies. I asked the sales girl what she could do for me because I have to have that shoe, it is the only one that goes with my dress." She didnt look at me once, whadda bitch.

So here are five suits in for lunch all wearing Harper buttons. I hadnt heard of him, didnt know who he was or even if he was among them. I tried to be a bit jokey but they werent having it. One of them was just like that woman. He didnt look at me, ordered while not looking at me and pummeled into private conversation straight away. In effect giving me walking papers with no thank you's or any sort of human decency.

Imagine my surprise when I soon thereafter saw his slimy face on the news. Of course that was Harper the freaking reptile. He treats service staff like sub-human and that tells me way too much about his creepy Bush henchman's ass.
