Here are a couple of stories, both supposidly true. The first is one that I read in Readers Digest probably35 years ago that always stuck in my mind. The second is something that happened to a very close friend of mine when he was very young.
A woman was having a hard time trying to get her young daughter to stop chewing her fingernails. She tried the bitter ointments and everything else she could think of, all to no avail. One day, in desperation, she told her daughter that if she kept chewing her nails she would get pregnant. For whatever reason this seemed to have some effect on the little girl. A day or two later, though, the woman and her daughter were standing in line at the bank. In line just ahead of them was a young woman that was obviously near term. The woman was horrified when unexpectedly her daughter marched up to the pregnant woman, looked up at her, and with a big grin on her face said, "I know what you've been doing!"
When my friend, Dean, was very young (about 4 if I remember right) his father was having a problem with a badger that was digging holes in one of their fields, so one day opportunity presented itself and his dad was able to shoot the destructive critter. Dean was very excited over the event, so later that day when the family had to go to the local general store Dean proudly marched in and in a loud voice proudly proclaimed, "MY DADDY SHOT A BASTARD!"
