I don't by any means think that everybody on this site is like this, but I have noticed there are an awful lot of lazy people who use this system. Why is it that people seem to think a 3 word message is enough? Why are they so unwilling to ask a few questions or explain what they are after? Is it too much to ask that people be interesting?

Am I the only one with this issue?

Yes, you are the only one with this issue. Although, there are about 1 million other posts per month asking the same question...

You see, it is not laziness or lack of motivation, it is that people are either a. not interested in you and your kink and b. your high expectations that people online owe anyone an explanation of any type, let alone a long explanation.

Once you get over those two things, you will have more fun here on Collarme.

Good luck.

Of course not.  Rarely do i receive a message from someone that is more that a sentence or two.  Besides being short and uninteresting, their messages usually have typos or grammatical errors.

People who actually send out an interesting, witty, well-composed introductory message are truly rare.  At least that's been my experience.

sexred1,

sorry, and i hope you don't take this personally, but that sounds like bullshit and it makes no sense. why would people bother to message me if they were not interested? i think it is lazyness.

Did they write you first or did you write them and then they replied?

If they write you first, then that would be stupid, but I get a ton of emails from Doms and some of them write, hi or hi Red, or hi Sexy and some nonsense and there is really nothing to work with for me to reply to.

If you write them first and they answer with a terse reply, it could be they are not really interested (sometimes I just write thanks but I am not interested) or they have no communication skills.

Then again, people are so busy and the online thing has made everyone indeed lazy, when our accelerated technology renders the personal touch, the phone call, the letter useless in favor of ease, IM's text, text speak.

So, I guess you do have a point.

I received an initial mail from a guy that said "come to daddy".  I did not respond.

About a month later I got another one from him that said only one word, "come".  I thought to myself, "oh, he wants to play a game!".  So I responded "go".

He responded "moo".  I responded "cow".  The ball is in his court.  The jury is still out on whether he is actually lazy or not, but it's definitely getting more interesting.

I too have received many 1 or 2 word emails related to both domestic and farm animals. That jury is busy.

Seriously,

I've got to know some very real people who sent me extremely short messages, a few of which I've been friends with for 3-5 years now. They sent me a short message, I short messaged them back. They messaged me and the conversation expanded just like it does in real life.

If somebody sends you a short message, it's not a lot of work to send them a short message back. Then again some people are too lazy to send short messages. lol.. :-P

Send 'em to the "quartets" game - called "What do these things have in common?" It's on the Random Polls Forum

In your profile you ask people to be blunt, then when they are, you call them lazy.

The number of people on this site who don't write long diatribes in an email is large, but it isn't them being lazy. Some dominants think they only need say a few words and submissives will be lining up to jump through hoops for them. That is not laziness, it is simply the delusion that so many have.

Ultimately, if you don't like a message you receive, you can either ignore it (which tells them you aren't interested in them) or send a short polite email back telling them you would like to know more or that you aren't interested. The bottom line is that complaining about it on the message boards isn't going to make the situation any better.

The interwebs have had a long-standing, and time-tested tradition in those that would hasten to make a contact with about 3-words or less.  For those that have been here long enough to experience the joyous and sleepless nights back on IRC, you didn't even get 3 words; you got the following: "a/s/l?" (and I'm being kind with the question mark).  These were the mating calls of the HNGs (aka Horny Net-Geeks), now better known as "Trolls".  They don't really care if you respond, it's sort of like instant spam...if you answer:  Great!, and if you can't feed their wank-fodder or their personal instant gratification method quick enough, then they just move on.

Some fisherman just bait one hook at a time with one pole and go that route, while others will bait multiple hooks to increase their luck.  I would call the first good sportsmen, and the second; I would call them something more special:  "Master-baitors"  perhaps...  I wouldn't worry about them too much and when you reach out and get a proper response back then it'll be worth it.  Good luck.

perhaps i have a different understanding of English, but blunt does not mean short worded and undisruptive. Blunt, on my profile, means they are encouraged to get to the point.

let’s look at the example found in this forum

Short worded and lazy = "moo."

that’s it, just moo. How would anybody know what you want? You're not telling a person what you would like, or asking what they are wanted. There is no expression and I reserve the right to consider this person could just be LAZY.

now blunt = "i would like to find a person who i can dress up in a cow costume and sexually torment in my barn"

See, that is blunt. Even if I was not into that, I would respect it, laugh at it, and think to myself "he's weird, but I like him". I might even be inclined to wear his cow costume, because he’s interesting. Now i understand some people are shy, or just not good at opening up, but eventually, they have to start communicating, otherwise they have to ask why they are even on this site.

The reason I discuss this in a public forum is because I have seen this addressed. As well as being a general kinky weirdo, I'm also a member of a very clean forum called atheist nexus. The great thing about this forum is its intolerance for stupidity and lazy responses. When people show a pattern of lazy messages, you get barbequed and confronted, because of this, less people are inclined to send 3 words messages. Now I understand, people are not expecting everybody to write a massive message, but I think I am ok in saying that people join groups like this because they want some level of interaction. I might even be bold enough to say that perhaps they should consider a minimum amount of characters to send an email.

I need to renew my membership in the "BDSM Scene Writers Guild" before it expires... never can tell when I'm required to dump out a 1800 page novel when responding to a profile.

Puckerpup, you sly puppy dog. If I did not know better the last paragraph on your profile could be mistaken as a trolling for wanking material request.

Ok, so you've seen this addressed...read those posts and decided that you didn't care for those answers and that somehow if you brought up the subject you would get a totally different answer? That you would somehow inspire the holy grail of answers to appear? Or the answer you wished to receive would suddenly appear on your thread, instead of the 900000000000000000000000000000 others about the same thing?

Alrighty then...

my bad! Good luck with that!
