Yes, but the theme, too, was poor planning and judgment. During Blizzard #1, I was watching WORLD AT WAR (an old series, one that I think kind of romanticizes war) and the segment was on operation Barbarossa. Hitler proved about as wise as your college kids in the BMWs. The kids in your area are probably just foolish, but Hitler was a madman. (Scaled up idiocy.) Here's a recent quote from the NY REVIEW OF BOOKS related to S. Milosovic: As is often the case with men who bring disaster to their own people, Milosovic was an opportunist and a manipulator without an ounce of common sense. Regarding the Bush administration on IRAQ, there was this nugget: The systemic failure in IRAQ, Danner makes clear in his book, resulted in large part from an almost willful determination of those who made decisions to cut themselves off from those in government who knew anything. As a historian remarked regarding the extraordinary imprudent Philip II of Spain, "No experience of the failure of his policy could shake his belief in its essential excellence."
