cabernet -> New Home Page for Collarme (2/7/2010 1:41:30 PM)

Until a few weeks/months ago, every time I went to www.collarme.com the profile for MissSix would come up on the homepage for CollarMe.  But now it seems to bring up random profiles each time.  This means that anyone who posts their picture on their profile could be seen by someone who accidentally stumbles across the CollarMe website without the person even trying to enter the site.  Someone might just be innocently looking for a site that sells dog collars and find CollarMe.  For a while this site had a buffer page before it let people in, with the regular age requirement and warnings of what the site was about.  For some reason that didn't last for very long.  I know there are a lot of people who don't care who knows or who sees them, but a lot of people do care.  In fact, I was talking to a vanilla person from work and she knew of a person from where she used to live/work who was fired because their picture was seen on an alternative lifestyle website.  Does this concern you?  Do you think the site should/could do more to keep our identities private?  Any other thoughts on the subject?

I took my photos off...

I would post a non-face pic for my main if it concerned me...

I do agree that many people may not make the connection between the fact that random photos now come up, and misssix is gone.. .leaving their photos open to random google searches...

And a lot of people do not come here for months at a time to even check that it all has changed, and they too are exposed without knowing it...

Fucking thread got moved as I was replying so I lost my reply...

~Fast Reply~

Short and sweet version of what I had... It's extremely unlikely that my picture will be the one to pop up out of the how many pictures on this site.

Not to mention, I did a google search for "collar me" just to see how the CM link pops up on Google. Someone would have to be dumb enough to think that "BDSM Personals - Collarme" is a pet supply store. The odds of someone who knows me being that dumb are also extremely low. The combination of both happening is even lower.

I'm not particularly concerned.

Yeah, if I was worried about my face being seen on this site, I would not have a photo on here at all.

I agree, after all there might be priests and vicars looking for replacement collars who might come across this site.

And we wouldn't want to be giving them any ideas now, would we?

This discussion comes up in ever forum I have ever belonged to even the ones that were so difficult to find that a google search would take hours to find it.

This is the only answer I ever give.

If you are so scared of being outed, then don't put up a picture, don't give out personal information, and don't go to public venues.

It is your choice to be involved in this lifestyle there for any side effects of that choice are always your fault.

I can't stand the mentality that the whole world needs to accomodate their fears especially the irrational ones.

Hell no!
I want everyone to see my pictures! It pays to advertise!

dcnovice -> RE: New Home Page for Collarme (2/7/2010 3:14:11 PM)

I do rather miss MissSix. I feel we had a sort of kinship after all these years.

AnimusRex -> RE: New Home Page for Collarme (2/7/2010 5:43:16 PM)

I saw her first! She's MINE!

europann -> RE: New Home Page for Collarme (2/7/2010 6:04:22 PM)

I would never put any face pic on any site on the internet. Just too easy to be stolen and misused.

Yeah and that pic could never possibly be stolen or misused

soul2share -> RE: New Home Page for Collarme (2/8/2010 12:56:01 AM)

I have found in the past that the only time MissSix's pic and profile ever came up is when I logged out of CM.  Then I'd have to log in with my name and password, and only then would I see the profiles of those folks fitting my search parameters.  Course, the real problem is when I HAVE to log in and can't remember my damn password...so I never log out.....period.  I had to make a brand new profile up when my password suddenly failed to log me in, and nothing I tried would work.  One more reason for not logging out...just close tha page.  I'm the only one that uses my computer, so I'm not worried about someone going thru my history and "accedentally" seeing the home page.

thishereboi -> RE: New Home Page for Collarme (2/8/2010 10:59:01 AM)

I think if your afraid that someone will see your pic on here, then you shouldn't put your pic on here. Seems like an easy fix to me.

No.

Could they? Sure. Should they? I don't see it as their responsibility to protect anyone. They don't take in vital information when an account is created. This site is what it is. I think the user has to use their own discretion as to how much info (pictures) they wish to post here.
