As someone that has taught Tango (Beginner lessons), I will tell you that 1. ANYONE can learn to dance. To learn to lead tango reasonably well, it takes about 3 months, at least 3 times a week, one hour classes. But if you don't enjoy it, you will quit before you get good. (Note, when I started I had ZERO rhythm. Tango is easier to learn than Salsa or Swing if you can't hear the beat of the music because unlike Salsa and Swing you don't have to be on beat every step.) 2. Yeah, you may feel lame during the first month or so of classes. But if you enjoy it, that feeling will go away by the second month. 3. Age wise, Salsa and Swing are for the young. They are tiring so people over 40 are less likely to take it up. Tango you can do at any age, so there will be people ranging from 20 all the way to 80. But if you already have a partner, then that really shouldn't matter. 4. Leading a woman in tango is a VERY dominant activity. Less so in Salsa or swing, as they have more choice. Note, I know some dominant women that love to lead their submissive men on the dance floor.
