1) If you're just looking to get him in better shape, a general light workout program would be beneficial. If you're hoping to "spot reduce" his stomach, that isn't possible. The only way to make less fat on his stomach is to make less fat on his body in general and hope his body metabolizes from that storage point. 2) If he has no special needs or illnesses, then a quality multi-vitamin each day and a calcium supplement are all most people need (even when much younger and much older).
