I used to have major Honda and Toyota envy, I have gotten over it in the past week.

Wow!  Maybe this is the year people start buying American!

LaTigresse -> RE: Even more recalls (2/10/2010 7:35:34 AM)

I have yet to figure out what buying American means when it comes to cars. Given that most of the parts of American made cars are imported from other countries.

I adore my little Toyota sold by Chevy and my Japanese made Mazda. While I love my Dodge truck, it's probably had a dozen or more recalls on it.

About 70 % of the parts needed to make a Harley-Davidson motorcycle come from other countries. There is no such thing as an American made car and that has been the case for many years.

It used to be that foreign companies were required by law to use more than 50% american made parts in all their cars sold here. Not sure if that is still true or not. But as far as I am concerned 1/2 my family works for Nissan and my sentra was built in Tennessee. If someone has a problem with me driving it, it's their problem, not mine.

I'm not sure why this is OK with people, but that's another issue.

I figure the revenue goes to the company selling the car, yes?  American based car companies would receive revenue from their sales.  But then I'm ignorant on the subject and my comment was mostly tongue in cheek so....eh.
