Aneirin -> UK Government elections (2/11/2010 6:25:45 AM)

With our forthcoming UK government elections coming in the next few months and the political scene looking more uncertain then ever, perhaps it is time to wheel out the political compass test again, so you may have a guide to where your  ideas and ideals lie now.

http://www.politicalcompass.org/index

Myself, having just done the test, it appears I have shifted somewhat in my ideas compared to the last time I did it sometime last year, so to me that shows people are able to change their views despite what they may claim. I am still in the same quarter of the results graph, but I have shifted more to the left, but it cheers me I still reside in the area occupied by Mandela and Ghandi, in fact, almost the same position as Ghandi, where before I was between the two.

So ;

Economic Left/Right: -6.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.87

( For the sake of interest, directly opposite to anyone currently in power or campaigning for it )

Anyone else like to try ?

On the standard left-right scale, how do you distinguish leftists like Stalin and Gandhi?

I can't believe these 2 were even mentioned in the same breath.

These are my results from the test. I hope I did this correctly.

The Political Compass

Economic Left/Right: -9.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.56

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -7.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.95

The problem with these tests is that it's rather subjective how each individual answer contributes to the overall score and what it means about you if you answer a certain way.

I hope you don’t mind a citizen of the US taking your test… Just to see where I stand in relation to those whom I believe will take the test.

I must tell you that the test in my opinion was slanted in the questions to the liberal side. Otherwise the wording often left gray areas on the right but not on the left if that makes sense.

Still I thought I would have been more to the middle.

Pretty left/libertarian, but closer to kdsub than Ghandi or Mandella.

I'm a US citizen, I didn't think anyone would have a problem with my taking the test, but if it matters, then now you know.

kdsub,
You look pretty middle of the road to me.
