Okay ladies... what would you do...

There is a swanky Art Deco restaurant that I was told to make reservations at for Vday... they are all booked up. He has to work that day and the next, so it would not have been a very long date anyways... I REALLY want to go to this restaurant (Sir Winston's on the Queen Mary) since I moved into this neighborhood...

My question... would you find another restaurant to have Vday dinner, or would you request to wait until midweek when both of you had the time to have a great dinner with the bestest table, and just make believe it was Vday?

Do not get me wrong, I am not complaining or anything, I feel fortunate to have this dilemma... really I do....

I would find another restaurant you both like, or try the one you like or........stay home, have a candlelit romantic dinner and then a hot, sweaty dessert.

lusciouslips19 -> RE: Valentines Day (2/11/2010 1:55:48 PM)

As a good little girl, I would ask him what he would prefer you do?

That one is a possibility....

I have my heart set on this one restaurant! Perhaps we can do both....

He even said he might take me on the ghost hunting tour (Queen Mary is purportedly haunted) for a lark (he doesn't even believe in ghosts)....

Oh that so annoys the shit out of him when I pretend not to have a desire that I truly do have, especially if he senses I am disappointed with his ultimate decision....

Well he asked you to do something and you were unsucessful at the task. So I would ask him what now? I didnt say you should not tell him of your desires, just that you shouldnt be making the decisions without checking with him. I would operate like that whether my relationship was D's or vanilla.

V Day will be a zoo. The cook and wait staff will be run off their feet and the experience will not be the best. Suggest Thursday of the next week when they will have gotten all the new deliveries for the weekend and everything will be the freshest.

And have candlelight and a light meal at home on V Day proper.

I think you are right... and I think he will like this idea too....

We do not have that sort of relationship that is "task" driven like that, unless he gets that certain tone in his voice... which he did not have the "dom in charge" sound about it.. he had the "whatever makes you happy" sound about it. It was my choice, he asked me what I wanted to do... his gift to me. He went to Sir Winston's before and he approved of the desire, though... he likes the joint, and he isn't easy to impress with restaurants.

I have this pair of vicky secrets red heart boy shorts....and a new black lace bra with black lace thigh highs.... or should I go with my knee high  boots he bought me a couple of years ago?... he can devour me, forget the strawberries[;)]

windchymes -> RE: Valentines Day (2/11/2010 2:23:10 PM)

I guess with my job history of having to work so many holidays, including Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc., I've grown very accustomed to celebrating a holiday on another day of the week. (Just this past Christmas, I celebrated it New Year's weekend!) So, if it were me, I'd have no problem booking the reservation for the place I really wanted to go on a day later in the weekend. I agree that the place will be packed on V-Day, so it will be more intimate and you'll probably get better service on the non-holiday day. :)

I think my dilemma is solved... thank you all!

Now that sounds hot! I have similar clothes, but no valentine this year to show off to. I will live vicariously through you. [;)]

I will... I have never wanted to go to one particular restaurant so much in my life, and I am usually not into that sort of thing

I like this idea as well.  :-)

-- you can eat at that place on a less busy day and really enjoy it.   -I am a big fan of celebrating when we happen to free up our schedules.  With little regard to what one is "supposed" to do/plan/event.

NuevaVida -> RE: Valentines Day (2/11/2010 9:27:37 PM)

Hi julia - - I'm late to the party here but I'd be post-poning to a night when I could enjoy the restaurant that's calling my name...it'll be more relaxing on a non-VDay night, anyway.  Have a simple yet elegant dinner at home.  [:)]

Let us know how the restaurant is, after you go!

Aileen1968 -> RE: Valentines Day (2/12/2010 12:27:16 AM)

Do shots of Jack and White Castle on VDay and enjoy the nice restaurant mid week.
That's my vote.

juliaoceania -> RE: Valentines Day (2/17/2010 10:54:47 PM)

We went to his house for Valentine's Day, I was too ill to go anywhere else, so he took my sick ass to his house and we attempted to watch a The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons, but I couldn't hear it because my ears were infected. I got Nyquil on his brand new sofa... Which upset me to the point of near tears until he said:

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.

This is from the song Anthem by Leonard Cohen. Daddy then said, "If it leaves a stain I will think of you and this Valentine's Day every time I see it... so it isn't that bad"

For his saying that, it made it the best Valentine's Day we ever had....
