You channelling Ford there, Moonie?

Quite a few south east Asians might not pardon Nixon's foreign policy either.

Bring down Palin? Bring her down from where?

She's popular with a group that isn't even a political party. This isn't even non-news enough to be a non-news story.

Reminds me of Monty Python's characters in search of a plot....and then he found a paper bag under a bush, which did NOT contain a severed head....

Hell over the last week I have seen 2 huge things flare up that should have been non-stories about Palin. The entire palmgate thing, and then something about the bracelet she was wearing.

At best she is a flaky troll with a cool story, ignore it and the beast will starve to death. Instead of that, every left leaning blog, news source, and whacko is waiting for the next gotcha moment to throw her into the spotlight again.

Thing is, I don't hear this stuff on the news. I only read it here.

That is because you have made the choice not to watch TV (I think I remember that correctly), and are not catching the "newstainment" that has replaced journalism. BTW, most of them get their leads and stories these days from blogs and other such mediums.

It was the best of times....

I for one do not want Palin anywhere near the White House.  Or any other office for that matter, after showing herself to be a quitter.  She sought, competed for, won, and accepted the public trust of an important public office.  Then she quit.  She doesn't deserve the public trust again.  YMMV.

That's a bit offensive to Nixon who, whatever else you can say about him (the whole Kent State thing and Watergate don't look good) wasn't a stupid man and did pretty well in international terms, however big a mess his domestic policy was. Still, that may well have been more Kissinger than him...

She seems Nixonian in her personality. She is thin-skinned, highly sensitive to personal loyalty and slights, and carries grudges to obsessive lengths.

Although it is pretty humorous to hear someone say "but thats an insult to Nixon".

I don't know about thin skinned, she has had just about everything including the kitchen sink thrown at her, and she is still out there.

The rest may be accurate.

I will agree that she is out there..........way, way out there.

Of course where she should be is in the office she took an oath to serve and uphold.

So I'm getting a little tired of apologists for her, she took no more heat than any other politician and what she did take was largely a result of her own making from her total lack of preparedness.

I mean seriously, she was campaigning for the office of Vice-President and in two separate interviews she made it clear she had no clue about the duties of the office.

Nixon's expansion of the war was the cause of the protests but he really had no direct involvement in what happened at Kent State.

It was the Governor of Ohio, James Rhodes, who sent in the National Guard.

He then further inflamed the situation by coming to the campus and making a derogatory speech about the protesters:

Kent State shootings

During a press conference, Governor Rhodes called the protesters un-American and referred to the protesters as revolutionaries set on destroying higher education in Ohio.

"They're worse than the brown shirts and the communist element and also the night riders and the vigilantes," Rhodes said. "They're the worst type of people that we harbor in America. I think that we're up against the strongest, well-trained, militant, revolutionary group that has ever assembled in America."

I think she's great for a lot of laughs like Jerry Springer because she will never be elected for anything again.
