With nothing but odd's and end's furniture to work with, I think he did fairly well. I think there is a better arrangement, but can't see the whole room to know for sure. That arranngement would have me hurting myself and getting rid of a lot of stuff... at least one chair. But with a simple move of one large peice of furniture, he could have a more open area and keep the stuff.

I love designing small spaces! I have a great love for big spaces, but the challenge of a small space can be fun! Anywhere I go, I redesign in my head. lol But the hell of it is if you don't have the right things to make a small space workable. Even with thrift store finds and creative shopping with just a small amount of money you can get lucky in time and find the right peices, but until those finds... small spaces can suck!

One of my favorite kitchens was the smallest kitchen I ever had. It was perfect! I made large dinners in it too. It is all about the design and functionality. I actually love one room living! lol

I have way too much STUFF for one room living.  But I am working on that...LOL

I have seen several books on radically tiny living spaces- and agree that there is a beauty to living in less space. The vast majority of houses are just vast expanses of wasted space.
Front yards, for example- most are nothing more than psychological buffer zones, never used, never trod upon, just empty wastes of real estate. Living rooms that get occupants twice a year (Christmas and Thanksgiving), side yards that are only space for trash cans and dog poop...the list goes on.
The average American house has swollen from around 1500 sf in 1940 to around 2,500 sf today, even as the size of families has shrunk.
And yet we wonder why we are struggling financially.

Greedy, I once took almost everything out of a three bedroom house and put it in an apt that looked like a typical apt. except that it didn't have a bedroom. Bigger than most studio's, but small. No one could believe what all I had in there and yet we had lots of room and it didn't look cluttered. It was comfortable too. I had all my book cases and books and everything. Of course I did have a bed in the wall, which is an amazing way to go if you can. The right space, the right stuff and you can be amazed at what you can do.

our house is 3250 square feet, but its all used.  we dont really have much of a yard-  i wish we did.

actually I quiet agree, just still, yoza's almost a thousand a month just fer a studio, and that aint in Manhattan lol

I love seeing what others do with small spaces.  We live in a motor home of approximately 300 square feet for the two of us.  We have a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom with queen sized bed.  It really feels quite spacious.  We'll be remodeling the living room this summer.  At the moment it has 2 couches and the front seats that turn around for more seating.  It seats 8 but I never have that many in here so we're eliminating one of the couches for some sort of storage cabinets/computer desk area.

I love living in small spaces.  If I am going to live in a house, it shouldn't be any larger than about 700 sq ft.  Your motor home sounds perfect!!
